Live It Like You Love It

About Me

The Merge are originally from the Channel Island of Jersey but made the move 'across the pond' to Manchester just over 2 years ago in order to fully develop as a band within one of the country's most vibrant and proven unsigned scenes, adding a couple of Mancunians to the line up along the way in the shape of Murph & Farny.
This comes after a large degree of success within Jersey's own live scene. The band's success within the island saw them attract a noteworthy fan base (later to be labelled the bracket) and propelled them into the elite of Jersey's live bands.
Large crowds soon became the norm for the band and the step up to playing events such as Rock in the Park in 2004 to 3,000 people seemed natural. The band were asked back to headline Rock in the Park in 2005 which showcases the crop of Jersey's local talent but perhaps more of an achievement was being given a slot at Jersey's premier festival Jersey Live in 2004 with the likes of Razorlight, The Thrills, Delays and The Subways to a crowd of 4,500 festival goers.
Again the band were asked back after establishing themselves as a Manchester band and played a successful home coming set at Jersey Live '06 on the same stage as headline act Snow Patrol, as well as, The Zutons, Editors, ìForward Russia! and Milburn to an 8,000 strong crowd.
In the mean time the band continue to grow in reputation as well as establish their ever-growing fanbase in Manchester and the surrounding North West.
REVIEWS
"They owned the stage they stood on and delivered a set that oozed Indie from the first twangy guitar riff to the last infectious drum beat, laced together with perfect harmonies." - MANCHESTERISMUSIC.CO.UK
"... few words are needed to describe The Merge, their songs, the way they play or their presence on stage. A few of the words I used in my notes for this review include 'the next big thing', 'awesome', 'arena fillers', 'glasto', 'should be signed'. - RYAN MORRISON, BBC RADIO JERSEY.
"... and if you were under the impression that Indie was pretty much dead then prepare yourself for the second coming. Guitars, melodies and 5 boys with sensitive souls make The Merge one of this years top finds according to Bomp Productions. These boys live and breathe Indie. Their harmonies are great and their choruses will stitch themselves to your eardrums. You'll be humming them for days." - JANE DELMER, JERSEY EVENING POST
"The Merge delivered their own original brand of indie rock that has seen them take the local scene by storm in recent months." - JONNY PEARCE, FRIDAY EXTRA MAGAZINE
"Talented local group The Merge gave one of the best performances of the night, clearly undaunted by the prize on offer. Their blend of indie and rock had the crowd hooked and a sea of people could be seen jumping to the bass lines... they were victorious." - Natasha Egre, 24SE7EN Magazine
