A Sheffield boy through and through !!
My music taste today was formed having grown up listening to the local Pirate radio station SCR and having one of greatest record shops ever ‘Warp’ as my local shop. Every spare penny I had was spent in there on Vinyl.
My early clubbing days started on Saturdays at Occasions a small club in Sheffield with no air con listening to Winston & Parrot, wow those guys could rock a place.I still smile when I come across “Blackout†by lil Louis in my collection they use to turn all the lights off in the club when it came on, you were scuppered if you were in mid flow in the gents.
Ive also got to mention ‘Le Palais’ the mid week sessions there were legendary, Jive Turkey, The Limit, and The Leadmill where Graeme Park was the resident for a while in a mid week slot and not to forget Creation Fond memories all these night and the DJ's that played formed a lot of my musical tastes today.
Leaving Sheffield and having moved down to Bath in the late 90's I hooked up with the following group of guys ‘Geoff ‘Geemix’, Rob alias ‘DJ Mono’ due to being deaf in one ear, Jamie known as ‘Polecat’ Simon, Nathan and John and not to forget Sam Sam the Bongo man and Biker John a legend on the lights if ever there was one.
We later became know as the "Stardust Collective" putting on Legendary nights in the Hub Club Bath, The Tropic in Bristol as well as holding Residencies at The Brunel Rooms in Swindon and Lakota in Bristol. Each one of us with a different music style we covered all spectrums of music in one night.
Both Rob and myself went on to open Stardust Records Bath's finest and first dance specialist shop and local hangout for the south West's vinyl junkies.
