UPDATE ON THE 5th JUNE 2007: - The first track using the anysounds sounds is now complete and up on the page. Turn it up!! For more info on the track and the sounds used please see the new blog (INTERPRETATION).All of the sounds are now hosted on a totally amazing site called freesound which hosts all sorts of ..well.. free sounds. The link is http://freesound.iua.upf.edu/ . Once at the site search anysounds and the sounds are hosted together. If you go to the section that says "sample packs by this user" and click on "anysounds project" then you can download them all together. Try making your own version using the same sounds and send any ideas to be put up on the site! Any feedback much appreciated and hope to hear some new anysounds music soon. Peace, anysounds
anysounds is a celebration of the internet bringing creative people together. It is a project that takes this connection one step further, and allows people to create something together... the scale depends on you and your involvement.
anysounds needs your sounds. The idea is for you to send a sound that you have recorded so it can be used with other sounds sent in by other people, and then put together to create new music. The recording could be anything… a word, a phrase, half a word, a drum sound, a funny bit of chat in between takes.. a sample you haven’t been able to make work in a tune but think sounds good, a note of an instrument, a chord, a natural sound, a conversation, a cow mooing, long, short, loud, quiet, full, thin, anything.. AS LONG AS IT WAS RECORDED BY YOU OR YOU KNOW FOR SURE IT ISN'T SAMPLED FROM A RECORDING. (Just not too many things layered in one recording). Send your sounds to [email protected] with a bit of information about what the sound is so we know what it is and how it was recorded.
Once all the sounds have been collated then a series of tracks will be put together to create a body of work called ‘anysounds ’.
The whole range of sounds that have been submitted will also be made available to anyone interested to make their own track or piece. The best of these tracks will then be put up on this page for all to hear, and showcases can be organised to play these tracks - on the radio and in clubs, in as many places as possible. Once there is enough material put together the idea is to shop the tracks and concept around for a deal and get this music released. Potentially, there could be an original 'anysounds' CD, and then a compilation of the best tracks submitted from other artists.
anysounds will get the ball rolling and start piecing together some ideas as soon as sounds come in and put them on this page to inspire you. Send us your files as WAV files (or if mp3 make as high res as possible), and bear in mind that if the sound is interesting don’t worry too much about the quality.. if it was on a Dictaphone or whatever.. it’s all about interesting sounds and experimenting with sound.
Send your sounds to [email protected]
Thanks and we look forward to hearing your sounds!
