Hannes & the Blue Vinyl Freaks spielen nicht nur Rockabilly/Country/Blues-Musik sondern sind, bzw. machen Kultur: 2006 und 2007 waren sie mit ihrem zweisprachigem Programm in der Heimatstadt von Carl „Blue Suede Shoes“ Perkins. Für den Kulturaustausch subventionierte der Berliner Senat 2007 die Reise in die USA. Im April 2008 waren sie (erneut) mit Wanda Jackson auf Tournee.
Bislang liegen Tonaufnahmen aus drei Studios vor. Eine der Sessions fand im August 2006 im legendären SUN Studio in Memphis, Tennessee statt. Zu den Highlights 2007 zählen die Auftritte im Ausland als auch die Show beim intern. Festival für 2.000 Zuschauer in der Spandauer Zitadelle (in Berlin) u.a. mit Chuck Berry.
Das aktuelle Repertoire mit dem Motto (und neuem Song) „Don’t Like Mainstream Music“ interpretiert Vergangenes in der Gegenwart. Der Themensong mit einer inhaltlichen Aussage zur gegenwärtigen Musik basiert auf einem Szene-Hit der frühen 80er Jahre - zu einer Zeit wo Shakin’ Stevens und die Stray Cats die Charts mit Songs und Outfit der 50er Jahre revolutionierte. Doch die „Schallplattensammler“ sind jünger als Texas Lightnin’, klassischer als Boss Hoss oder Boppin’ B. und „Deutscher“ als Dick Brave! Die Debut CD, s.o., Bestell-Nr. TCY-009, ist in der Schweiz seit April 2008 bei www.tcy-records.com veröffentlicht.
Zu den interessanten Band-Nebenprojekten zaehlen bislang die Elvis-Showband 'KINGsize 5', Rolf Zacher, Claudia Lahmann und Wanda Jackson.

This rockabilly/blues/country quintet from Berlin, Germany started in autumn 2005, but the five musicians met before and played previously in bands such as The Sundowners, Doc Thomas and Big Bad Shakin’. Their musical influences include the Rockabilly side of Carl Perkins and Elvis, the country music of Hank Williams, the blues of Little Walter. The repertoire of the band mixes original songs and great classic material, and their sound features harp, guitars, steel, upright bass and drums.
In August 2006 they played at the 'Tribute To Carl Perkins Rockabilly Festival' in Jackson, Tennessee - and returned 08/2007. Check www.rockabillyhall.org. 2006 they recorded tracks at the legendary 'Sun' studio in Memphis, TN! July 22nd 2007 festival: Chuck Berry, Little Willie littlefield, Kingsize Taylor, Hannes & the Blue Vinyl Freaks and Colinda. The show was hosted by ROLF ZACHER (the German Al Pacino). Material of three studio recordings from 2006 and 2007 are published as 'The SUN recordings and more' by www.TCY-records.com in Switzerland, April 2008. The order No is TCY009. The CD contains originals as well as cover song in the genre of rockabilly, classic country and blues. One track features Wanda Jackson. The band did tour Germany with Wanda Jackson in April 2008 to promote this new CD.
