Im into SOUND. The sound of your voice, the sound of my dog howling, the sound of an old 45 record with Aretha Franklin singing "Gotta find me an angel, to fly away with me" or the sound of the first record I ever owned, the SugarHill Gang's "Rapper's Delight." I still have that record with all it's snaps, crackles and pops, and hopefully it will be with me for some more time (nothing lasts forever). I treasure the old record because it was my first love affair with sound. Those lyrics, as simple and silly as they may sound, still put a huge grin on my face and that is why I fell in love with sound. Simply because she made me smile. Friends make you smile, and I wanted her to travel with me for a lifetime. I still smile to the sound of music and now I am able to control her with ease. Thanks to the magic and power of the MAC (and ok, the PC for all you PC junkies) I literally get to see my friend (in all peaks and troughs of her cycle) and really get to know her. To edit sound is to have a conversation with a deity that comes and goes but is always there, so long as you have the ears to hear. Even if you don't have ears, you can feel sound move through you. How? I simply don't know, but I do know Beethoven was deaf and well, you know what he contributed to the world of controlled sound. Now, I am not Beethoven by any means, but I love music, I study music, and I help others record what music they keep in their hearts. I help music communicate her many frequencies through mixing either on turntables, through Logic, Protools, a NEVE recording console, or a DigiDesign 5.1 Surround Sound mixing console. Music is alive and a powerful force which I dedicate the rest of my life too. I will struggle to find her in every aspect of my life. So long as she is there, I will be too. (Edit)
