We welcome donations year-round to help us fulfill our mission - to eradicate breast cancer as a life-threatening disease.
We would like to thank everybody for their support of the 16th Annual Komen Detroit Race for the Cure®, locally presented by the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute. Thanks to your help, we had an outstanding race once again! This year a crowd of over 30,000 women, men, and children ran, walked, or wheeled through the streets of Midtown Detroit on June 16 with the same mission: to eradicate breast cancer. Included in this crowd were nearly 1,500 breast cancer survivors and over 400 teams who brought a great amount of spirit to the Race. We are also proud to recognize the Race Planning Committee and the fabulous group of more than 1,200 volunteers without whom the Race would not be possible.
With the help of our friends, participants, sponsors and volunteers, we raised over $2 million allowing us to grant local breast cancer screening, treatment and education programs; and contribute to Susan G. Komen for the Cure's breast cancer research grant program.
Thanks to all of our volunteers who made things happen. Volunteers are needed throughout the year in various capacities.
