George-DrumsOn the very first day of '03, HIS MIGHTY ROBOT was created by Soda. At first it was a solo effort, but it would prove to be much, much more…After a few songs were written people would join HMR only to exit soon after. It was a tough creature to maintain until the fateful reconnection of old friends Soda and H-Rocker. She joined HMR and has since been the only dedicated member to the chaotic world that is this band since Spring of '03. Constant member changes would prove to be something HMR has been plagued with. But as dedication and triumph will show you, years later this beautiful disaster continues to flourish.Trudging through these changes they would ultimately press on, often as a duo playing many shows near and far while experimenting with guitar arrangements and broadening their vocal styling. Experimentation and pushing the envelope is something that has become a tradition with the band. This was made crystal clear upon the release of their debut ep "OPEN YOUR MIND" released independently in Spring of '05. The ep has been hailed as "The rebirth of alternative..." and was a great introduction to the band. It highlights different guitar sounds, urgent, honest vocals, colorful drum programming, and the wonderful use of scissors. The beauty of HMR and what has come to be a trademark, is the art of spontaneity. You never really know what to expect, especially at a live show. At times they deliver the show in second hand bookshops with no electricity and at other times they will deliver a loud experimental alternarock experience at a larger venue, and everything in between. The onstage chemistry is wonderful and there is an extreme ambiguity which lends to a hard to pin down conclusion, lending again to everything the band stands for, individuality. From the often unhinged and outspoken actions of Soda to the timid H-Rocker the band delivers. Also known as hard workers, everything is done independently from the releasing of music, to booking shows, etc. They do everything on their own.In Winter of '06, HMR saw the birth of their conceptual full length debut entitled "THE CONFLICT". It was a tough record to make due to, yet again…more line-up changes. Finally being released it only broadened their horizons. Recorded right in downtown NYC, HMR brought new instruments into the mix and left behind a lot of the electronic feel of the first recording to make a more brooding raw rock record. With comparisons to such cult favorites as The Cure, Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, and Sonic Youth it's hard to resist this static and the buzz only continues to grow. And solidifying a new roster as of Sept. '07 bringing in the 7th and 8th members of this project (but who's counting?) the duo welcomed hard hitting drummer, George and the hugely talented Mike 3.14 on bass. HMR is once again ready to bring everything up another notch. This is an NYC act in every aspect. Honest, eclectic, and unafraid. There is no compromise to what will happen next...wait and see.
