PATRIZIA SCASCITELLI
Pianist / Composer / Band Leader
Born in Rome, Patrizia Scascitelli began playing music at eight years old. She went on to graduate in classical and jazz piano from the prestigious Conservatory St. Cecilia, where she studied with the musical elite. Later, she would collaborate with well-known musicians in her native country.
After moving to New York in the early 1980’s Scascitelli would make a name for herself by performing with the legendary Don Cherry, Maxine Sullivan, Clifford Jordan, David “Fathead†Newman, Buster Williams, Calvin Hill, Bob Cunningham, Charles McGhee, J.R.Mitchell and a host of other performers.
Musica Jazz, a highly respected Italian jazz magazine, voted her fourth recording, Live in Rome, among the top CDs of 2002. This talented artist was also voted "Musician of the Year" 2003 and 2004 and “ Best Trio†in 2005 in this same publication.
Internationally respected she has been included in various music encyclopedias, books and magazines.
