About Me

Boy time goes by when you are having fun! Long Island Wine Country.com was launched in September 1999. Our eight-year ride has been extremely exciting, delicious, rewarding and bittersweet.
We have watched first hand an amazing metamorphous happen on the eastern end of Long Island. We tasted the newest "big reds" and Chardonnay alternatives. We watched LI wine pioneers sell their established vineyards and wineries for millions. We watched new wineries created on paper and built from the ground up. We attended two consecutive (2000 & 2001) "Windows on Long Island Wine" events at the sorely missed "Windows on the World Restaurant" atop the World Trade Center.
Long Island Wine Country is a unique geographical area. With a microclimate that is similar to Bordeaux, this region has the potential for making sensational wines. Not all wines are created equal, and Long Island vintners must sometimes be reminded that wine lovers have a choice. Sky-high wine prices do not translate into repeat customers.
During these past eight years we have been elated to receive thousands of intriguing emails from our readers. Many seek ways to increase their enjoyment of Long Island wine while others ask for advice on travel itineraries for tasting and touring wineries, or for finding a memorable dining destination. Our concept is simple. We aim to provide our readers with "an attitude free passport to great wine and delicious food!"
Long Island Wine Country.com Editor's offer “public” and custom group VIP tours of Long Island's world-class wine region. We provide full day and overnight excursions from New York City, Connecticut and Long Island.
