C.K.

Son of a bitch must pay!!

About Me

I've always gone by my initials, C.K., since the day I was born and hate it when people ask me what my real name is, immediately discounting C.K. as no name whatsoever. I’ve been living in Portland for close to 12 years and currently produce independent feature length movies like The Sexy Chef (http://www.thesexychef.net), Monday Night Gig (http://www.mondaynightgig.com), Damaged Goods and Cathedral Park. While I’ve worked or made a handful of shorts, I’m hoping next year to write and direct my first feature, just because I hate sleeping apparently. Right now it is still a non-paying gig and I usually work freelance or regular jobs for a living. Currently I’m job hunting AND single, so life is intermittently boring, frustrating and incredibly busy.

My Interests

Obviously, film is a big part of my life, both making them and watching them but I’m also into writing, painting, books, comic books, rock climbing, skiing, hiking, having a beer with friends and just plaining having a good time, especially with fun, open-minded people.

I'd like to meet:

Moslty I'd like to meet fellow like minded people who share some of my many interests and all should be open-minded and interesting. There is nothing worse then people who just gripe about their day or talk a lot and say nothing. I'm not against meeting single women looking for something serious (but I've never been involved in any online dating or meetings) but all in all I do enjoy talking and meeting new people regularly so all may apply. I'd especially like to meet fellow filmmakers, actors, Lauren Bacall, Betty Page, Gary Oldman, Robert Rodriguez, George Romero and Michelle Yeoh.

Music:

Music is a great tell all of a person and for me, you'll see it is very eclectic. I like All, Descendents, Green Day, Blink 182, Big Drill Car, Chemical People, REM, The Cure, The Smiths, U2, Husker Du, Black Flag, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Somerset Meadows, Pillars of Nein, NIN, Big Black, The Eagles, Beastie Boys, The Who, Beatles, Dagnasty, The Police, Eminem, Down by Law, Gorrillaz, The Sex Pistols, Red Kross, Benny Goodman, Louis Armstrong, Run DMC, NWA, Lush, Foo Fighters, Follow for Now, Goo Goo Dolls, The Derailers and a few hundred more I'll add to later on.

Movies:

Movies are something I truly love and so this list will only have the highlights: Most Jimmy Stewart movies, especially Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, Philadelphia Story (with Cary Grant as C.K. Dexter Haven), It's a Wonderful Life and his Anthony Mann westerns, The Man Who Knew Too Much, Rope, All of the Lord of The Rings, From Dusk 'Til Dawn, Aliens, Big Trouble in Little China, Citizen Kane, Project A Part 2 (Jackie Chan is the man!), Fist of Legend, Battle Royale, Rashomon, The Sexy Chef, Two Fisted, Assualt on Precinct 13 (the original, not the crappy remake), The Thing, Film Geek, Aguirre: The Wrath of God, The Meaning of Life, The Matrix, Spider-man, X-Men, Hellboy, Twelve Monkeys, Fight Club, Jackie Brown, Kill Bill, The Thin Man (actually, all of the Thin Man movies), To Have and Have Not, The Heater, Monday Night Gig, The Big Red One, Goodfellas, Saving Private Ryan, the original Star Wars trilogy (not the lame new ones), Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Jaws, all three Evil Dead movies, Bubba Ho-Tep, El Mariachi, Desperado and actually most movies from Frank Capra, Anthony Mann, Alfred Hitchcock, John Carpenter, George Romero, Sam Raimi, Quentino Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez.

Television:

Another long list, so I'll try to stick to the highlights: Stargate SG-1, The Shield, Nip/Tuck, Battlestar Galactica, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, The Daily Show, The Simpsons, King of the Hill, South Park, adult swim, especially Robot Chicken, Aqua Teen Hunger Force and The Venture Bros., Medium, MASH, X-Files, The Chappelle Show, Red Dwarf, The Office, The Apprentice, America's Next Top Model and CSI (The first one).

Books:

There are a lot of authors I'm into, so I'll name the authors, with some select books: Max Allan Collins, especially the Nate Heller series; favorite books are Million Dollar Wound and Spree, Greg Rucka, favorite book is Smoker (for now), Walter Mosley; any from the Easy and Mouse series plus Always Outnumbered, Always Outgunned, J.D. Salinger - The Catcher and The Rye, Jay McInerney - Bright Lights, Big City, Harlan Ellison, Phillip K. Dick, Gregory McDonald's Fletch series, James Ellroy, and Phillip Kerr's Berlin Noir Trilogy.

Heroes:

My Dad was my biggest hero, but others include Franklin Delano Roosevelt, Martin Luther King, Chuck Yeager (sorry, seen The Right Stuff sooo many times), My mom and Bill Mumy (fom the original Lost in Space).

What could it mean?

Christmas has always been about family for us. My father was Jewish but his father, my namesake, was apparently Agnostic, so they didn't celebrate anything in December. When he (my dad, not my grandad...
