MANES

How the world came to an end - out now!

About Me

ERA I
Sargatanas: vocals
Cernunnus: everything else
Manes was formed in late 1992 after Cernunnus chose to leave Atrox, which he also co-founded back in 1988, feeling sick of the traditional band-concept and its boundaries. He brought Sargatanas with him from the band Perifa where they both played briefly. This Manes variation released three demos and the Manes debut album "Under ein blodraud maane" on Hammerheart Records. After a lengthy trek of little or no dedication due to illness and an increasing lack of faith in metal in general and black metal in particular, the band was put on ice and Sargatanas chose to leave Manes.
Maanens natt - demo 1993
Ned i stillheten - demo 1994
Til kongens grav de døde vandrer - demo 1995

ERA II
Cern: electronics and guitar
Rune: drums
Eivind: guitar
Torstein: bass
Asgeir: vocals
Cern never stopped making music though, and after various members came and went, Manes was re-animated as a full band and hard at work on a sophomore album. The band was made a borderless playground for its members, which all had other bands to fulfill their more normal band ambitions, and this resulted in the album "Vilosophe" released on the Italian label Code666. After the release of this album the band did several concerts and festival-apperances, sharing the stage with bands and artists like Danzig, Isis, Katatonia, Red Harvest, Madder Mortem, Theater of Tragedy etc. plus playing festivals like Quart, Inferno, Hole in the Sky and Southern Discomfort. Other more alternative performances was undertaken, like a semi-accoustic/laptop set at the opening of an multimedial art-exhibition, a improv/drone co-operation with the noise-duo Bush Revolution, a concert streamed for web as a multicamera live production and another semi-accoustic set opening for Danny Cavanagh (Anathema).
Most frequent live line-up: Emil: vocals, Tommy: additional vocals, Tor-Arne: percussion, Cern: electronics and guitar, Rune: drums, Eivind: guitar and Torstein: bass
As a steppingstone before the next full-length album, Manes recorded two new songs, a cover of a 16 HP song and a song somewhat inspired by Duran Duran to form the EP entitled "[view]". On this release Emil handled main vocals and Tor-Arne added some violent percussion. Apart from those four new recordings this EP, limited to 999 copies, included two remixes by Cordell Klier and a remix by Dj Don Tomaso.
