The Caligraphist is a London based freelance record producer on the rise. His aim, to create productions so vivid, so detailed they become almost visual.Brought up on an eclectic musical diet, from the soulful, avant-garde sounds of Grace Jones played by his mother, the jazz piano lessons and underground house & garage music of early 90s pirate radio; to the music of production luminaries, J.Dilla, Darkchild, Rick Rubin, The Neptunes and Timbaland to name a few.Channelling his diverse array of musical influences and the obsessive attention to detail and enthusiasm of a “mad scientistâ€; The Caligraphist works tirelessly to produce imaginative, evocative and accomplished output, with both strong musical integrity and commercial appeal. The marriage of sometimes disparate yet well chosen sounds provide unique expression to every project and form part of Cali’s signature sound.Producing the musical score of BFM International Short Film Award winner, “Strictly Ghettoâ€, in 2005; strengthened his ability to create rich, exciting musical landscapes which enhance and support the lyric.2006 saw Cali working with a string of up and coming artists, among them, rising British soul sensation, Egypt and her “Road to My Destiny†EP, which he produced entirely.With fresh ideas, and production values to match, it’s surely but a matter of time before The Caligraphist signs on to greatness.
