One of 2006's Six Great Things in Local Music

About Me

What began as a couple of women in the ABQ music industry getting together to network, support and hang out with each other, turned into something bigger than we ever thought it could.
The ABQ Music Association is dedicated to making Albuquerque a music destination, rather than departure city. We are doing that through networking, communication and economic development.
We also don't shy away from fighting for the cause when we're threatened. In 2005, we fought the proposed change in liquor regulation which would affect the all-ages shows in ABQ, and we won! Who says you can't fight city hall...
We believe that it is an individual's responsibility to make change - we don't like other people making choices for us.
With our political victory behind us, we continue networking in order to expand our music scene.
Next up - Musician's Loading and Unloading zones in downtown ABQ. Watch for the signs in early 2007.
We also offer a series of free, monthly musician's workshops in partnership with Audio Excellence Records. These are designed to educate and empower local musicians, thereby allowing them to make intelligent and informed choices about their careers. More info is on the blog.
Furthermore, you may notice that we like film. This is because we have a new business in the works "Lucas Hooks Music" which licenses the music of unsigned musicians/bands/composers to the visual and audio industries (tv, film, radio, dvd, etc)
We will be launching an on-line music library in early 2007 (www.lucashooksmusic.com) which will house the music catalog. If you are interested in this free, non-exclusive service (we split the licensing fee we receive 50/50 with our content providers - musicians/bands/composers), please send a high-quality cd to us at: Lucas Hooks Music, PO Box 37282, ABQ, NM 87176.
