Influences: Good googly moogly. I am influenced by anything I hear or have ever heard. Gospel and Motown artists are probably my earliest influences, followed by soul and R&B and some funk( notably James Brown RIP!). When I was younger I had a tendency to compose jazz influenced songs although I have no memory of ever listening to jazz before the age of about 14 or 15. My mom apparently had quite a few jazz records, I later found out. I also watched quite a few classical programs on the now non-existant channel 12 when I lived in Philly. In my teens I mostly listened to Rap, Hippity hop (lol) and big bands. I sang in choirs all throughout my childhood. I absolutely love latin, afro and brazilian music, although I don't know enough about those styles. I'm heavily attracted to music that is highly rhythmic rather than notes, notes, notes. I'll most likely be delving into brazilain music sometime in the near future, but I'll need some help from my friend Johanne who is a specialist! I'm in total awe of Indian music and definitely like to experiment with a mélange of many styles. When I get the chance I'll put one or two of my compositions on my page for listening and maybe even a opera Aria just to give y'all an idea of the different ways I enjoy using my voice. Currently I sing Gospel, Jazz, Soul, R&B and Opera. I'd do more but, I don't have time.More concretely my influences are: Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Prince, Chaka Khan, Marvin Gaye, Otis Redding, Shirley Horne, Sarah Vaughan, Ella Fitzgerald, Abbey Linclon, Cassandra Wilson, Dianne Reeves, Betty Carter, Ray Charles, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Duke Ellington and Count Basie for the essentiel element called SWING, Renée Fleming, Maria Callas, Judy Bady(if ya' don't know her what are you waiting for, geesh!), the Fantabulous Jill Scott, Erykah Badu, D'Angelo, the Roots, Patti Labelle, Thelonious Monk, Lewis Taylor, Nat King Cole, Kim Burrell, the Clark Sisters, Bobby McFerrin, Take 6, Lambert Hendricks and Ross, MacCoy Tyner, Dinah Washington, India Arie, De la Soul, Tribe Called Quest and more to come as I think of them.ACHETER L'ALBUM en téléchargement sur amazon
