Otentikk Street Brothers / OSB Crew

Reggae-Creole & Seggae from Mauritius

About Me

With their songs and live-shows the OSB Crew / Otentikk Street Brothers from the small island of Mauritius proves that there are still place on this planet where there are brilliant musicians making innovative music, that is so far completely unknown to the rest of the world.

Their style combines in a masterly way elements of Reggae, Raga and Dancehall with the traditional musical heritage of the Mauritian Creole inhabitants called Sega. The result is an electrifying mixture of 4-bar Reggae-Grooves with the African 3-bar roots of Sega-music. But the music of the OSB Crew also has everything else great music needs: four MCs that sing and toast like there was no tomorrow, charismatic live presence, and catchy hook-lines and arrangements that don’t need to hide behind the work that comes out of the major studios in the western world.
Extra spice is added by the French-Creole language, that is used to denounce the arrogance of Babylon and the ambivalent materialism of today's Zeitgeist. Even though the party-potential of their songs is comparable to that of any Dancehall-act, lyrically the message lies clearly on the consciousness-side of the spectrum, while they never slip into pure agitation and always stay aware of their social responsibilities. And so you find them equally condemning political mismanagement and police brutality as social ills like excessive alcohol consumption, all of which today are major problems in their homeland.

Band Members: /// Bruno Raya - alias MASTER KKOOL B: He’s the undisputed head of the group. His stage presence and natural charisma already made him a leader of the young generation of Mauritius. His intelligent lyrics are dominated by the search for a responsible and tolerant co-existence of all kinds of peoples. ///Jean Clario Cateaux – alias BLAKKAYO: A perfect toaster and singer, he is the alter ego of KKool B. In everyday life a rather calm appearance, with the first notes of the first riddim on stage Blakkayo transforms into a beast. ///Pascal Ferdinand – alias DAGGER KKILLA: Dagger KKila represents the softer sides of OSB. A great musician and composer of melodies, he is responsible for many musical highlights of the latest album “Revey Twa”. ///Kensley Lafolle – alias TIKKENZO: Tikkenzo completes the foursome. His roots are firmly in Hip-Hop and his raps and styles add one more colour to the multi-facetted style of the OSB Crew. ///On stage the four MCs are accompanied by backing vocalists SISTA MARIE MICHELE PERINE and SISTA MARIE HELENE LASCARIE and the members of the Reggae-group NATIR CHAMAREL.-----------contact: yet.not.now - Stuttgart - Germany, [email protected], +49-711-2599 308
