Island Rock

About Me

Mauritius 1992. Teen schoolmates Paco, Nation & Mabloon set up a band they call Eclectic. They quickly decide they would concentrate on originals rather than playing covers. They start playing mauritian venues and create a buzz. MLP completes the line up in 1996. This coincides with the band’s natural change in artistic orientation: the songs become raw and atmospheric, dominated by real song writing efforts and wizardry.
It is an important period for Eclectic, as it inaugurates the ‘Island Rock’ sound: rock’n’roll built on the ashes of grunge music, echoing to Britpop but radically heading towards the future, with its story-telling lyrics through a collection of sing-along tunes lost in space and time. The band keep generating a growing concern wherever they land in spite of the fact that rock’n’roll bands in Mauritius have next to no future.
Adulthood can cause the death of art but the boys couldn’t let go all those years of music. Unable of vesting into a quiet life plan, they re-united in Europe, named themselves a riot in heaven and started it all over again. New songs keep emerging, stuff up their already rich live sets & recorded demos.
Their first international gig occurs in Paris, at the House of Live in 2003. This is how they got to touch France, especially Paris. As every English singing band, they set for the UK, where they just landed in 2007. They played a couple of gigs in London before finally getting signed by Indie Ocean records whom they've been working with since.
