Bruce Wayne was traumatised after witnessing the murder of his parents at the hand of a mugger named Joe Chill. Reared by the Wayne's faithful servant, Alfred Pennyworth, Bruce travelled across the globe honing his mind and developing martial arts and combat skills. Returning to Gotham City, Bruce created the persona of Batman to combat the criminal element of the city, that is, to fight his war on crime.
