I've always been drawn to rebels who thumb their nose at convention. Since my youth, I have been committed to engaging the world with an open heart and a lust for experience. Still jailbait, I took to the road for two years (Europe, The Middle East, Northern Africa) with nothing but a backpack and a good pair boots. Drifting with the wind, but committed to breaking the myopic world view ingrained in my brain from a childhood of suburban sprawl and its angst inducing ideals; I took to task all that I'd been taught. I stood pleading for mercy on behalf of the men the Turkish police were beating as potential suspects. The backs of their legs buckled as the "police" administered Turkish justice. Unaccustomed to such brutality, and really not needing the thirty bucks that was stolen, I was able to convince them to stop. Drunk on excessive steins of lager in Berlin before the fall of the iron curtain; I climbed that graffiti riddled wall and smiled at the East German border guard aiming at me. I could swear he smiled back... Strolling casually through the West Bank of Israel with my toe headed Swedish girlfriend who had a penchant for anal sex and insanity; we perilously dodged the stones hurled at us off the roof tops by militant Palestinians... As the Molotov cocktails exploded on the cars strewn throughout the streets of that German ghetto in Hamburg, the bartender kept serving us drinks and asked, "if we had ever been in a squatter’s riot before"... Sitting upon a Russian tank in Budapest drinking champagne and smoking a hand rolled cigarette, I wondered if the thirty-five cents I'd paid for the champagne was too much... Later, the Hungarian hammer thrower who called himself a masseuse bruised my entire body with his communist massage techniques... In Dubrovnik, Yugoslavia, I wondered if there could ever be a more beautiful place on earth. They blew it up later in a war. As I puffed away on top of the pyramid overlooking Cairo, I wondered if the man who had sold me the hashish was serious when he threatened to kill me for wearing earrings... Drinking rum from a watermelon while drifting down the Nile is a brilliant idea with destructive results if you are not used to Egyptian fruit!..........................As I passed out at 5 am with my cock still in the pin up artist’s ass, I knew things wouldn't last between us... The seven times I went to Playboy mansion, you can imagine... During five years living in the Haight/Ashbury of San Francisco I never missed Southern California once... Meditating in Red Rock Canyon, Las Vegas, is truly a dichotomy; spiritual bliss in the City of Sin... Burning Man is my true home............................................I've whipped ass from NY to LA; visited 46 states, 31 countries, and 4 burns. I worked for a record label, and managed successful bands. I've been surrounded by people. I've been completely alone. I've smoked pot with Joey Ramone. I've sang for fans. I've been embraced by prophets, sages, and smugglers. I promoted the San Francisco "Theatre on the Square;" shot a movie in film school at Coppola Hall; hitchhiked from Poland to Paris, nearly arrested for indecency in Spain, ran from Federales to the US border in Tijuana to escape jail, stage dove to near death at Stiff Little Fingers, spun fire for royalty, ate ecstasy in the mountains, backpacked the Grand Teton, fucked on the Napali Coast of Kauai, and took too much acid on a summer night in Golden Gate Park with a nubile young actress. I've been discarded and betrayed, and yet I remain an optimist. The dungeons, the orgies, and insane parties are imprinted upon my being but merely reflect the external of my life's experience. My greatest accomplishment in life is the profound faith that I can connect with the source and allow it to guide my life.
