Band Website: bcbradio.co.uk
Band Members: John Hebden works for a homeless project in Bradford and is married with 2 teenage sons. He first discovered music when he heard his sister playing the Beatles, aged 14. He soon found the Americana sounds of people like Emmylou Harris and the Band and his musical soul was satisfied.................... Sue Smith works in mental health & volunteers with John's homless project, her main interest being promoting the musical talents of those using the project. Sue's musical awakening was also via the Beatles & she shares a Liverpudlian heritage. A love of English folk & the music of Bob Dylan led to her discovery of Americana & the desire to share it with the world via Going North from Nashville!
Influences: John & Sue each have their own favorite artists, but they share a passion for Ryan Adams / Whiskeytown, Gillain Welch, Lambchop, Richmond Fontaine, Lucinda Williams, Emmylou Harris, Gram Parson / Byrds / Flying Burritos, Uncle Tupelo / Wilco and Bob Dylan............. John's current listening includes Midlake, Brian Houston, Anne McCue, Nina Nastasia (thanks for that 1, Michael)& Babyshambles.......................Sue is listening to : Stephanie Dosen, Denison Witmer, Ryan Adams, Michah P Hinson, Jesse Malin, Levi Weaver, Seldom Seen Smith, The Earlies &, always, Dylan.
Sounds Like: An eclectic mix of americana & alt country, taking in early influences from Woody Guthrie to the 'cosmic American music' of Gram Parsons, to '90's alt country giants, Uncle Tupelo & beyond to a diversity of contemporary artists, such as Iron & Wine, Richmond Fontaine, Rosie Taylor & newcomers to the genre, including Levi Weaver, Stephanie Dosen, & the Storys.
