LUNAPHAGE - UK Black/Death Metal

About Me

From a myriad of musical influences (and indeed LIFE influences), Lunaphage was born.Extremely political (but not 'party' political), the anger and depth of feeling is demonstrated in the music.I have been politically active but now choose to spread my message through my music.Death/Black Metal has become the perfect forum for me. It combines great melody with vicious intensity without diluting either.I am very approachable so don't be shy in writing to me! :)I hope you enjoy Lunaphage. David.

My Interests

Music:

Band Members: Lunaphage is the work of primarily one man. I am inspired by the ideas of friends who have contributed with their enthusiasm and encouragement.
Influences: My influences range from Opeth to Frank Marino. I enjoy Die Krupps, Dimmu Borgir (of course), Arch Enemy, Candlemass, Camel, Manowar, Classical and Ennio Morricone.
Sounds Like: A very scary movie. Lots of light and shade. Brutality mingling with warm melody. The guitars sustain and riff as opposed to shredding. Although there are solos, they are melodic and controlled. The keyboards are not as prominent as Dimmu Borgir, but are more prominent than, say, Opeth. The vocals are various shades of Death Metal. The moments of burgeoning intensity (particularly the drumming) are extremely Industrial. Because of my many influences, which are highly melodic, Lunaphage is fairly accessible to the novice listener. I try to give every song an 'epic' feel. Enjoy!

Death Metal is garbage?

Many years ago I was singing in a local pub. Two Goth guys came up to me and asked me if I could sing Death Metal. One introduced himself as a 'Death Metal keyboard player'. It was all I could do stop...

Being 'unsigned'

On such sites (like Soundclick) the question is often asked: would you sign with a major record label? Often the answer is 'no'. For myself, the answer is: 'well, if offered, I would probably take it'...
