www.SOUNDandENTERTAINMENT.com is NOT a band. We are a small but serious production company and upstart indie label working with the following acts: THE WILLIAMS BROS. BAND (Blues Rock/ Colorado), POQUITO MAZ (Tejano/Colorado), and LIQUID JAZZ (Jazz/New York)feat. Jimi Halperin on saxes and Larry Meyer on guitar. Please click any of the links on the right side of this page, or visit www.soundandentertainment.com for more information.
Influences:
You can skim this by reading the acts in ALL CAPS, are you ready? As a small child in the 70's my influences were dictated by the adults around me, and for this I am thankful for this today. Texas and New Mexico Conjunto artists like; FREDDIE FENDER, Little Joe -y- La Familia, Tiny Morrie, Al Hurricane, EDDIE DIMAS, and Roberto Griego. Latino Oldies like; El Chicano, Rosie and the Imperials, TIERRA...etc. as well as all typical 70's radio genres including Rock (Foriegner, Deep Purple, Styx, Loverboy...etc), Soul/Funk (Earth Wind & Fire, COMMODORES, Taste of Honey, Chic), Country crossover (Exile, Kenny Rogers, WAYLON & WILLIE), Folk and Ballads (Gordon Lightfoot, James Taylor, JIM CROCE, you get the picture), and of course CHICAGO, and ALICE COOPER. Later towards the late 70's I was turned on to 12" extended play dance cuts, and in the 80's I boycotted radio all together (I still HATE commercial radio). this is when I discovered that music existed "off the air" in clubs and house parties. Frankie Smith, Tyrone Brunson, Egyptian Lover, Newcleus, GRAND MASTER FLASH, Melle Mel, Kaz, Midnight Star...and toward the middle of the Decade I discovered Metal bliss through IRON MAIDEN, Priest, Ozzy, Overkill, Testament, King Diamond, MOTORHEAD....Then came Heavier Metal like SLAYER, Nuclear Assault, Megedeth, Metallica, M.O.D. Anthrax, S.O.D, Voi Vod, Celtic Frost, Exodus, Atrophy, and SEPULTURA. It about 1986 that I got my hands on Rap like Whodini, Too Short, & N.W.A. Believe it or not GEORGE STRAIT, and Reba McIntyre were among my favorites too. I also discovered DR. HOOK (hilarious lyrics about sex, drugs, music, and mayhem). As Nirvana murdered the Metal scene (YEAH I SAID MURDERED!) I re-discovered Be-Bop from the 20's and 30's, some genuine Swing (pre Paul Whiteman), and QUINCY JONES. I also went back to my Chicano roots with acts like SUBLIME (yeah I know they are not latin, but these cats were the brownest whiteboys I ever heard), KID FROST, Lighter Shade of Brown, Cypress Hill, and other Rap acts like BOO YAA TRIBE, Ice T, the Click, E-40, and Herm. Now Metal is back with a vengeance!! My life is about extremes, and my music reflects it.
Sounds Like: THE EVOLUTION OF THE AMERICAN MUSIC REVOLUTION!
