Aged twelve, Jim Glerum had already played with the likes of Frizzy Gillespie, Charlie Parking and Zoot Zoot in legendary New York jazz clubs like the Five Pots and Two Bruises. Between sets he usually amazed audiences and musicians alike by his instant composing with mid-priced Lego sets. Now nearing his seventies, he stumbles through life cunningly disguised as a budding young bass player, even though he confesses to having as much talent playing that instrument as clubbing seals in Icelandic waters (a remarkably ambiguous comment, even for someone as queer as Glerum). Still a regular at local fishing contests, his presence is usually an omen of ill things to come, causing many fishermen to move their feasts to hidden locations.
