I am the mother of two adult children. I consider myself a Pan-Africanist and I am interested in all things relating to African culture (politics, history, arts, language, etc.)

I am a spiritual person and I believe in God, Satan, deamons, angels, heaven and hell. I also believe in calling Libations.
I am a writer and have written a novel, a non-fiction work and several short stories. My inspiration comes from a variety of sources. My love of writing grew out of my love for reading. I was inspired by such authors as Alex Haley, Richard Wright, Zora Neal Hurston, Toni Morrison and Alice Walker.
Things I Love: My Lhasa, Sheeva, springtime, purple, blue, tulips and roses, afternoon naps, white wine and seafood, a good book and a good cup of coffee, good music, milk chocolate, fresh fruit, chocolate ice cream, comedy, and poetry. I am also a basketball and boxing fan. My favorite boxers are Floyd Mayweather, Jr. and Rasheem the Untouchable Brown. My favorite baller is Allen Iverson.

Things I Dislike: the word "hate," fake leather, fake people, racism, sexism, abusers, low riders and short tops, incompetence in any form.

My Interests

I love arts and crafts (counted cross stitch, crocheting and knitting. The patterns are sometimes so intricate that I am hardly able to concentrate on anything else. This allows me a means to escape from the pressures of the world and create something beautiful and sometimes useful.

I'd like to meet:

I am interested in meeting other authors, poets, publishers, literary agents and anyone who shares my interest and my passion for writing.

Music:

I like Neo Soul, contemporary Christian, R & B and Jazz. I especially like vintage jazz and blues like: Billy Holiday, Dinah Washington and Nancy Wilson.

Other favorite artist: India Arie, Jill Scott, CeCe Winans, Whitney Houston, Anita Baker and of course Medinah Starr.

Movies:

My favorite movies are Chaka Zulu and Malcolm X.

I also love historical movies like Gangs of New York. I like Gangster movies like, Mobsters, The Untouchables and Good Fellas.

Television:

I'm an admitted CSI and SVU junkie. I also enjoy the History channel and A & E.

Books:

My favorite book is The Color Purple by Alice Walker. I have recently read and enjoyed the following:

The Poisonwood Bible, Barbara Kingsolver

The DaVinci Code, Dan Brown

Heroes:

My heros are Malcolm X, John Henrik Clarke and Cheikh Anta Diop

Also, my daughter who grew up to be everything I expected of her and more.

My mother who passed from this life in 1998. She was the most intelligent, courageous and warm hearted woman I will ever know. My family and I will forever rejoice in her memory.
