INTRODUCING THE MOMENT
When The Moment finally released a Best Of compilation in 1996, they called it 'Mod Gods!' and in the sleeve note the NME's Paul Moody described the band as "English pop music's greatest ever secret". For those lucky enough to have caught them live between 1983 and 1990, they offered passion and pain with a brass hook, punk and soul with the guts of a Gibson 335! Through one memorable album, 1985’s ‘The Work Gets Done’, produced by Edward Ball and Paul Bevoir, and a series of singles – ‘In This Town', ‘One, Two They Fly’, ‘Poor Mr Diamond’, ‘Ready To Fall’ and ‘Pain’ – The Moment left their mark. More than anything, though, they will be remembered for the finely crafted anthems of songwriter Adrian Holder and the passion of their live performances. Their unreleased live album, recorded in Germany in 1988, is scheduled to be released in 2007, so fans can once more have an opportunity to experience the sound of The Moment live!WHERE ARE THEY NOW?
Adrian Holder now lives in Germany and released his first solo recording since The Moment on a Biff Bang Pow Records compilation album in 2006. He is currently finishing writing songs for a solo album. Robert Moore subsequently joined Paul Bevoir in Smalltown Parade, supporting Take That on a short tour in 1992 and inspiring Robbie Williams to at least one new haircut. They reached the fringes of the charts in the UK and released two albums in Japan. Rob currently lives in London and collaborates with Adrian Holder when the two are in the same country. Gary Malby DJs regularly and is an occasional club promoter. Anthony Lambdon emigrated to New Zealand, while Neil Clitheroe has lived in Germany since leaving The Moment. Martin Colegate lives on the south coast of the UK. Steve Rinaldi released his debut solo album under the name of Rinaldi Sings in 2005 and was described by the NME as "a cocksure 21st Century Scott Walker". He is currently near to the completion of his second album, due for release soon on Tangerine Records.
