About Me
"I love playing the bad guy in movies, because the bad guy always dies. That’s the real world. If someone asked me to play a bad guy that always gets away with it, I’d pass. That’s the very message I preach to youths who are in crisis and in trouble…the bad guy always loses and the good guy always wins. It’s the one-thing movies and real life see eye-to-eye on."My road to success has been hard earned and everything but typical. From imprisonment to helping young people battle drug addiction, acting to producing, my road to success has been hard earned and everything but typical.I grew up on the streets of Los Angeles. Despite spending the latter part of my youth and early adulthood incarcerated, I rose above. Upon my release from San Quentin, I became involved in programs aimed at helping those who, like me, battle drug and alcohol addictions.Years later, I went to the set of RUNAWAY TRAIN to offer support to a man I’d been counseling. I was immediately offered a role as a convict. That was the beginning of my career in the film industry. From then on, I have gone to star in dozens of ilms including: DESPERADO, the FROM DUSK 'TIL DAWN film series, HEAT (Robert De Niro, Al Pacino), CON AIR (Nicholas Cage), ONCE UPON A TIME IN MEXICO (Johnny Depp). I have also appeared in the series of SPY KIDS films as "Uncle Machete." In addition, I have also been seen in the independent films THE DEVIL'S REJECTS, the sequal to HOUSE OF 1000 CORPSES, and SHERRY BABY opposite Maggie Gyllenhaal. I can currently be seen in Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino's GRIND HOUSE, as well as DELTA FARCE, starring Dan Whitney AKA "Larry the Cable Guy" and working with Rob Zombie again in HALLOWEEN. All three projects have recently been released on DVD. I recently completed LA LINEA alongisde Ray Liotta, Esai Morales and Andy Garcia. I've also appeared on numerous television shows including THE DISTRICT, NYPD Blue, THE X-FILES, and RESURRECTION BLVD. I have a recurring role on the series KING OF THE HILL and have appeared on an episode of KNIGHTS OF PROSPERITY starring Donal Logue, MONK starring Tony Shalhoub, THE GEORGE LOPEZ SHOW starring George Lopez, DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES and most recently STARGATE: ATLANTIS. A biographical documentary on Danny's life has recently been released. It is titled "CHAMPION" and is currently available on DVD.In 2000, I formed my production company, "Starburst" where my first endeavors into producing was the award winning short AN EYE FOR TALENT followed by THE ANIMAL FACTORY, directed by Steve Buscemi. MY FATHER'S FLAG is the next feature in development under that banner, a film about a young soldier's conflict between his fatehr and country and his evolution into a patriot."Trejo 4.0 Productions" is Danny's newest venture. The company's most recent film "High Hopes" has been acquired by Maple Pictures/ Lionsgate Canada. It's a story about a group of Hollywood hopefuls who decide to steal marijuana from the FBI with the plan of returning it and using the reward money to finance their movie. The film stars Jason Mewes, David Faustino, Corin Nemec, Jason Marsden, Eddie Furlong, Robert Rodriguez, Andy Dick, and Michael DeLorenzo.
Despite my success it is my role as a devoted husband, father of three and as an intervention counselor that bring me the most satisfaction.
