Band Biography
The most original funk-rock band from Wakefield's up and coming music scene. We strive to be as unique and musically expressive as possible. We write across a whole range of genre's from blues-rock to reggae, and we feel we deserve an oppurtunity to share our music to the widest audience possible. Live performance is the sole reason why this band formed and we are always on the lookout to gig. We hope you like our music and please get in touch if you wish to book motiv!
Reviews
Andy Fletcher - Vman Events
"These boys have a big sound! It drips out influences of Hendrix and oozes blues. Their set is a tight one and the band seem full of confidence, especially during their song about the war in Iraq . Solid as an ox, Motiv rocked till they dropped!"
Chris - Louder Than Bombs
"Bluesy trio with Hendrix style guitar"
John - Music Man
And just one other Genre these guys missed out,and that was Soul.Because amongst many other superb qualities this band offers I detected this frontman has got one hell of a Soulful Voice.Only used on certains tracks you pick up on it quickly as you take in the Music of this Band.
First and Foremost let me tell you, this Band belies its age.I checked and checked again on the ages of these Band Members and was staggered to find out they were no more than 20yrs.
''The Maturity of the Voice and the Expressive work done alongside by the other Band Members is quite amazing''.
I am simply taken with this Band, their writing, their presentation and Performance is very very impressive. It is slick and neat, yet rocky, full of pace and yet at the same time moody.mellow and captivating. This Band seem to have completeley avoided what might be classed as 'safe'in Music and have taken their attention to performing work that only those in the know would attempt. Young and carefree and willing to experiment I dont know. But whatever they have decided I can tell you they have pulled it off.....Brilliantly.
Their Music is Creative,Diverse,Imaginative and Adventurous.
Friend in London says ''This work is sensational''they will Just go from strength to strength, they will almost definateley appeal to the masses because they are young, fresh, immenseley talented and doing something different.
To produce such work, and to perform as a bunch of musicians as these guys do their future is immenseley promising to say the least.Bearing in mind they are very much at the stage of developing ;their brand' and 'their image'.If what I have been listening to over the last few days is anything to go by then keep it rolling, and stick very much to what you are doing. Its Briliant
''The Voice of this lead vocalist is strong, gritty and mature,he sings with real feeling and strength in his voice,he is able to twist and turn in and out of the music with ease from Blues to Rock to Reggae. On certain tracks he demonstrates A Real Soul Element of his range of great singing abilities(Demonstrated particularly on the track 'For Queen & For Country). This track being most definateley my personal favourite and of other listeners as well.
The Music is precise and well Orchestrated. It is brilliant listening.Imagine that if this is the work they are producing now, then God Knows what its gonna be like in the future.Pretty Amazing I would imagine.
Summing up is easy.Mighty impressive,Brilliant Band,Great Vocals and Group of Musicians who are simply first Class.
This Band are shortly to play here in Mancheser.Unquestionably they will be well received. The fans will love them.
Brilliant Guys.
Tim Brookes - Surface Unsigned
"Motiv took to the stage and shone a light of youthful innocence over the parade, as they launched into their brand of funky indie rock. Anthemic riffs were broken up with a distinctive flavour of melodic and somewhat jazzy solos, which worked very well for the band's style. Despite being a young band they showed a level of talent which I'm sure will help them grow and progress as the competition continues. The vocals were very strong in parts, and they showed a greater level of understanding for the genre than many of the mainstream indie acts wasting positions in the charts at the moment!"
