.. Formed during October 2007, Phunk have quickly devised a sound that is both fresh and new. With the blend of funky slap bass from Gary Chambers, and the drumming sensations of Jim Lewis, the rhythm section produces daring techniques that some others can only dream of. Topped with the talents of Colin “Fuz†Foster on Guitar, and the lyrical genius and vocal skill of Lee Capie, the band produces a sound that is both crisp and adventurous which leaves listeners guessing what might come next.
.. The band collided by accident when, after declining the offer to join another of Lee Capie’s projects, Jim Lewis was presented with a CD of songs compiled by Gary Chambers and Lee Capie who had been working together since mid 2005. With their first rehearsal arranged in an Ormskirk studio, to “knock out some ideas and see what happensâ€, it wasn’t until they arrived that they found out they had no need for the advert “Guitarist Wantedâ€, as Jim Lewis had brought along guitarist, and long time friend, Colin ''Fuz'' Foster. With line up complete they spent the next six months (until March 2008) or so working on many of the compositions brought in by Gary Chambers and Lee Capie, along with new ideas that quickly formed into established songs.
.. After spending some further time in the studio in April 2008, the band completed their first 11 track demo appropriately called, ''Continuation Of A Groove'' and are now concentrating on taking their sound to the masses.12 Months on (April 2009) and the band is still creating new tracks of great diversity. Even the Saxophone features on certain songs for that something different. Be sure to come along to one of the gigs listed in the gig guide to see what we're talking about. So please get in touch to book us!
.. All the best, Phunk
