One voice. One Artist. One Soul. Born a Scorpio in Honolulu, Hawai’i with a diverse ethnic makeup of African-American, Hawaiian, Chinese and Portuguese. Blessed with talent and humility. Exposed and influenced at a young age by the melodic sounds of legends such as Marvin Gaye, Roy Ayers, Prince, Luther Vandross and The Isley Brothers. As a graduate of the prestigious Kamehameha High School, Kimo left the islands continuing his education at world-renowned Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia. It was in ATL where Kimo James started professionally recording as a member of SWATT, an Atlanta based hip-hop group. In the years to follow he returned to Hawai’i, where he teamed up with a gifted M.C. by the name of Trace to form the R&B/Rap duo- Provide Soul. Simultaneously Kimo held down a job at Avex Studios (formerly TK Studios) which is home to hit records by artists such as Dr. Dre, Kanye West, Destiny’s Child, Mariah Carey and more. With his astonishing stage presence, Kimo has preformed as an opening act for concerts with Cristina Aguilera, Common, Goapelle, 112 and Destiny’s Child at venues from the U.S. to Japan.
