I am here for Friends

About Me

Mom of three boys, standup comic, mostly grew up in the midwest, school volunteer, love sewing (made my own wedding dress), love cooking, bargain-finder (taught classes on this).

My Interests

I like comedy with a twist. The kind where it takes you a while to figure out if they're being serious. The kind that makes you think about your point of view on something. Don Asmussen, the cartoonist is a genius at this. The Christopher Guest movies fall into this (Best of Show, Waiting for Guffman, etc.) Also like to read The Onion.

I'd like to meet:

In real life, I'd like to expand my circle of friends. I have a few, really close friends. I seem to get along with guys more than women (which is funny because I have four sisters). If I could throw a party, I'd like to invite (if time could be suspended and they were alive all at the same time): Jim Henson, Fred (Mister) Rogers, Dr. Seuss, Johnny Depp (yes, please), Steven Burns, Tina Fey, Stephen Colbert, Don Asmussen, and ancestors that I would have a million questions for.

Your Seduction Style: Prized Object
The seduction game you play is tried, true, and still effective: hard to get.
You know that the best seducers turn the tables - and get their crush to seduce them.
The one running has the power, and you're a challenge that is worth the chase.

You are a master of enticing and pulling back. Giving a little and taking some away.
You are controlled enough to know rewards come after a long seduction dance.
Even though you want to call, email, or say "I love you" first - you don't!

Your style is the perfect mix of hot and cold - so much so that you have many suitors.
Think Holly Golightly from Breakfast at Tiffany's.
You're skilled at inspiring a chase. The real test is picking the person to slow down for. What Kind of Seducer Are You?

Your Kissing Technique Is: Perfect
Your kissing technique is amazing - and you know it.
You always seem to know what kissing style is going to work best.
Sometimes you're passionate, sometimes you're a tease. And you're always amazing! Are You a Good Kisser?

You Have a Choleric Temperament
You are a person of great enthusiasm - easily excited by many things.
Unsatisfied by the ordinary, you are reaching for an epic, extraordinary life.
You want the best. The best life. The best love. The best reputation.

You posses a sharp and keen intellect.
Strong willed, nothing can keep you down.
You're an instantly passionate person - and this passion gives you an intoxicating power over others.

What Temperment Are You?

Future film-maker in the family. This animation ^ won my son second place in a festival.

Music:

Bob Dorough, Voice Farm, Dan Zanes, Laurie Berkner, Rutles, TMBG, Al, Chris Isaak (Wicked Game always makes me take my clothes off), The Cure, Stranglers, Lightning Seeds, The Camp Mather/Miraloma S.F. Flapjacks (and the Prairie Rose band as a venn diagram), Joanne Shenandoah, The Housemartins, Mojo Nixon. Men Without Hats to listen to while housecleaning. You can't stand still during Pop Goes The World. (& R.E.M. when Michael Stipe had hair)

Movies:

Way too many. Family Man with Nicolas Cage, Groundhog Day, almost any version of Christmas Carol. I guess I like movies that show how we are the sum of our choices. Other choices would create different outcomes.

Television:

Mythbusters, Colbert Report, Young Ones, Survivor (guilty pleasure). MST3K was the best show ever created. Discovered "The Office" later than most people.

Books:

Favorite authors: Jean Kerr, Dave Barry, Betty MacDonald, Shirley Jackson, Sam Quinones. I also like reading biographies, especially of people who worked hard to get where they are, with a little luck thrown in. And I just finished reading the very wonderful Mickey Joseph's autobiography "What would Don Corleone do?" Mickey Joseph is one of the few comedians who ALWAYS makes me laugh out loud.

Heroes:

People who do what's best for kids, even if it means they have to give up something for themselves.

My Blog
