Since he burst on the scene with his debut showcase one year ago, sax man Nick Charles has been wowing music lovers through out the Keys with his stylistic versatility, his unique, soulful tone, and musical maturity far beyond his years. As a soloist, bandleader, section member or a jammer he never fails to bring fresh excitement and dynamic showmanship to the stage.
Like most overnight sensations, Nick has been working to hone his art for many years, since he first picked up his mom’s dusty old alto at age nine. A Cape Cod native, Nick has been a Keys resident since 1997 and has played in most of the clubs in Key West, as well as many other venues throughout the Keys.
As always, Nick looking forward to playing at his musical “home†with Larry Smith and the rest of the Pier House family, including Skipper Kripitz on drums, Kim Wroble on bass, Robert Douglas on guitar, and special guest vocalists Valerie Carr and local jazz legends Peter Diamond and Marilyn Holderfield.
