About Me
Brian liked guitar as a young boy, and his parents bought him a red electric one at the local flea market. It now hangs on his bedroom wall. He took guitar lessons but gravitated towards his teacher’s bass. So, he took bass lessons too. In high school, he played electric bass in the marching band - that's right, marching band. Two girls pushed his amp as he marched through Manahawkin, N.J. in parades and halftime shows. It worked out alright, his senior year he won the Louis Armstrong Jazz award. He did the whole bar band scene on Long Beach Island for a few years, went to cooking school, then moved to the Florida Keys. He joined the band CapRock, which morphed into the Prime Movers. Eleven years later, the Prime Movers are still playing in the lower keys and Key West. Brian is the only original member. After writing original songs for a few years, Brian took his acoustic guitar, his acoustic bass, and headed to the studio. He traveled to Miami in early 2004 recording at Natural Sound Studio. His first cd, entitled At the Time is a collection of all solo acoustic songs which he considers snapshots of his life. They are inspired by his life in the Keys, highlighting a five year period which included a divorce, a second marriage, an adoption, new band members, and the struggle to become a successful solo artist. It also includes cover tributes to two of his four musical idols; Paul McCartney and Greg Lake. John Wetton and Chris Squire will have to wait until next time for their salute.A little project for family and friends during the summer of 2005 turned into his second cd Christmas Music. Brian recorded twelve of his favorite Christmas tunes, this time adding his electric basses, keyboards, and even his banjo. In addition, he wrote an original song entitled Santa’s Headed for the Keys for his two daughters. Local radio stations got wind of it and it was played on WWUS 104.1, WKEY 93.5, WGMX 94.3, and WEOW 92.7, a Clear Channel station, throughout the holiday season.Brian continues to write original songs and is looking forward to recording his next cd. He is performing nightly throughout the Keys, the majority of his gigs as solo guitar. He performs so much, in fact, that several times he has been listed on Sonicbids.com as the top booked artist (out of over 100,000 artists) rarely is he out of the top 5. Last summer, while reading Bass Player magazine, Brian was excited to find his picture among the featured artists in Bose’s national ad for it’s L1 soundsystem. In those rare moments when Brian isn’t playing live, he spends time with his family on Big Pine Key. His favorite hobbies are shopping for Taylor guitars, Lakland basses, or Eden and Mesa Boogie amps and trying to convince his wife that he is assembling the perfect configuration for any gig he might play.
