Formed in May 2006 and based in North-east of Italy, Chance Medley is the resulting band of the meeting among Frank Puglie, Stefano Paschi, Filippo Pucci and Luca Baratto.
In 2004, after years of guitar performing and three releasing along with the internationally renowned stoner band OJM, Frank feels the need to rest for a while and to have experience of more complex sounds. He starts getting deep into jazz and black music; following these listening, the idea of a new project arises. In October 2005, Frank meets Stefano, a highly appreciated piano/organ player from local rock scene, who previously collaborated with several bands taking part to many recordings.
They start rehearsing and composing few tracks. The resulting is a mix of an acid funk-flavored sound peppered with a shimmering and crunchy guitar, due to Frank interests on black music added of the typical rock energy that both of the two members gained in the previous experiences.
Filippo Pucci joins the band as drummer later on. He shared the funky/groove scene with a great number of bands and can boasts as well several collaborations. Filippo reveals to have a versatile style, thanks to his passion for different genres of music and to his brother Michele (a well known folk guitarist) who influenced his background.
Luca Baratto, a longstanding Frank’s friend by the times of OJM, completes the line up of the band. Right from the start, they all get on extremely well. Further, they resume the tracks already outlined by Frank and Stefano; their sound falls somewhere between funk undertones of Meters and Sly & the Family Stone and ‘60-based acid rock experimentations passing throughout improvisation.
