Alissa Tavdidishvili Turgeneva was born in in 1984, raised in Tbilisi, Georgia and began playing the piano at the age of 5. By the time she was 7 years old she had decided to become a concert pianist. In Rome at the age of 11 she won the 3rd prize in the International Competition for Pianists, under the patronage of the President of Italy. This, her first international competition, was followed by the 2nd prize in the Monterosa-Kawai-Varallo Sesia and the 1st prize in the 6th International Piano Prize of Victoria Caffa Righetti. In 2006 she won audience prizes in the Jaques Samuel and the Beethoven European Society competitions.At the age of just 15 she was selected from 600 pianists worldwide to be one of the 24 finalists to compete in the World Piano Competition, organised under the patronage of HRH the Prince of Wales in the Purcell Room in London. Alissa's performance, as one of the youngest players in this competition, won her a full scholarship to study at the Purcell School of Music.She continued her studies in London at the Royal Academy and Trinity College of Music, where she graduated with a 1st class honours in 2007. She is currently studying for her MMus at Trinity College of Music under Professor Douglas Finch. This year she has been awarded the Trinity College London Scholarship, the Beverly Creed Scholarship, the Aurelius Scholarship, the Craxton Memorial Trust And and the Derek Butler Prize.In 2000 she performed the Liszt Piano Concerto no 2 with the Georgian State Symphony Orchestra in the Big Hall of the Georgian State Conservatory, conducted by Roman Brogli. Other performances include solo recitals in the Georgian State Conservatory, Purcell Room, Royal Opera House Linbury Studios, Inn Chapel, Regents Hall, the Reform Club and the Wigmore Hall. Her future performances will include venues such as Bluthners Piano Centre Mayfair, and Wigmore Hall.
