About Me

Mariano Slaimen has been playing professionally over the past 15 years, both performing and recording. He has participated solely in different musical projects that fill his soul. Mariano has been influenced by Stevie Wonder and Toots Thielemans in chromatic harmonica and by James Cotton ,Walter Horton, Sony Terry and Sonny Boy Williamson in diatonic harmonica. He has toured all over his country, throughout the U.S. and Thailand. He has worked with Eddie C. Campbell in the Chicago Blues Festival, Miguel Botafogo, Jorgelina Alemán . In 2004, Mariano recorded with singer Zakiya Hooker (John Lee’s daughter), an experience that had the deepest impact in his musical life. Within his recordings, his collaborations in the following recordings stand out: The Colour of the Blues - Zakiya Hooker - MDR Records 2004 - Live in La Trastienda - Buenos Aires, and Jazz en las Venas - Jorgelina Alemán - 2003 MDR Records - Live at ND Theatre - Buenos Aires. Mariano is currently working on his new CD, in which he plays both chromatic and diatonic harmonica.
