A hybrid if there ever was one. Composing something vaguely familiar, yet all together something your ears have never feasted on. See them perform live and that vague familiar ness becomes an ever growing library of Black Crowes infused, cornerstone 60’s 70’s rock/folk/country covers. Every song holding its own. Case in point: Listen to John Lennon’s “Jealous Guy” then find a Black Crowes cover of it, it’s brilliant. Blistering live sets several pushing 3hrs in length make each show an up and down musical coaster ride w/ songs 15min long and 3,4 10 min songs in a row it’s easy to get lost in the moment and you can usually see the smokey haze of Nag Champa mixed w/ burning joints and one hitters. Creating a atmosphere of a time that was not so long ago______________Not quite mainstream and not quite underground The Black Crowes have an undeniable bond w/ their fans. Most in the crowd have multiple Crowes shows under their belts, the most I’ve ever heard someone tell me was 24+. The kid who got me into The Crowes, has seen them 13+ 9 or 10 of those being since 2005 alone, and in 9states. That’s how much dedication some fans have, almost reminiscent of the droves of kids who followed The Dead. I always meet and try to bring people to the show who have never seen them. some instantly say its the best show they ever seen and most will rank it in the top five.____________The undeniable talent these guys have is unbelievable, Litterally taking any genre they want(sometimes fusing 4 or 5 at any given time it seems) then they, roll it, smoke it and blow it your face. Creating something that has evovled into something that is very cosmic, psychedelic, and in my opinion a spirtaul journey. If Steve Miller was the "Space Cowboy" then The Black Crowes are "Space Hippies" the whole while saying: "if your don't like it step out of the way."
