About Me

Gina Go Faster began in the summer of 1995 with three friends who shared a passion for music, an ear for songwriting and a strong need to have a good time. After some time playing in the local rock scene, GGF started to get a buzz within the indie rock crowd. They recorded their first 7-inch release on Blue Lamp Records, a split single called "Nice Boy," which garnered them the attention of international music media and quickly sold out in the US and Japan. But before the record was even released, Gina Go Faster hit its first major bump in the road when their drummer broke the news that he was moving on. Determined to keep the rock alive, bass player/vocalist Mike Freeman and guitarist/back-up vocalist Joel Abell pushed on in search of a new drummer.Still struggling without a permanent time-keeper, "Stereophonicactionplan" was released in 1997 on King Bee Records, and GGF had another sold out record after multiple tours and great reviews.GGF sought a drummer that really fit the band’s need to tour, write and record the music they loved. Mark Armijo was a drummer from the New Mexico punk rock scene who had a dubious reputation but also a strong charisma and an ability to beat the crap out of the drums. Not wasting any time, GGF released their next recording on Shaky/King Bee records, "Faster Motor Co." The response from music media and fans was even stronger than their previous recordings; GGF had started to really solidify their sound. Success began to snowball for GGF, as they recorded the follow up "Wagon Mound" and jumped on a stint with the Warped Tour.Gina Go Faster has released their last two recordings on King Bee Records, appearing on the "Staying at Mike's" comp and their latest full-length, "Brown Paper Bag." Like GGF recordings of the past, these met with great reviews and much fanfare. From the beginning, GGF has been picking up fans along the way; the buzz has grown stronger, and the passion and devotion of the fans has grown as well. With numerous tours around the US, a long list of headlining and opening gigs with legendary punk and rock-n-roll bands, Gina Go Faster's Freeman and Abell have been on a long road with a revolving door of drummers. With a newfound excitement Gina Go Faster now shares the stage with dyed-in-the-wool drummer Tim Reed, who knows how to keep the excitement for music, the sound solid and the good times rolling. In early 2007, GGF is on tour, writing songs and recording for their next release.

Sounds Like: "Fast, snappy, delirious pop done as punk rock." Censor This issue 11"Aggressive, but still poppy garage punk rock. This reminds me a lot of the high spirited early THE PHUZZ singles which knocked my socks off when I first got into 7"s. Very energetic and lively." Rats in the Hallway issue 9"two qualities I like in a band , guitars and distinctive, if not slightly annoying, vocals. The songs are catchy too." Maximum Rock & Roll"There are so many bands out there that just go through the motions of playing punk rock that it just becomes boring and self defeating. Luckily, Gina Go Faster isn't one of these bands. They come out of the gate at full steam and don't slow down well into last call. Easily one of the better punk rock bands" "I highly recomend checking them out live." Shame 7"No wank and lots of spank; good, smart, punched to the floor, yelling at the sky, full tilt rock'n'roll."
