Digital Flowers

Oh me oh my ... it's a glam pop world !

About Me

I am Yves De Graeve, and I’m very very proud to present to you ... Digital Flowers, one of the projects I started up some years ago. The project started off in the year 2000 with Ann Declercq (now singer in Groove Grocery) and Chris D. Morton (one of the finalists of the first edition of Idol in Belgium) as singers ... ’till the day I decided that they - even if they are good singers - weren’t able to bring my songs the way I wanted them to sound. I decided to sing myself, although I kept Ann’s vocals on two of the songs (Twice As Nice and One Fine Day).

Together with 3 other songs, the songs Paris and Removable Head (featured on this web site), are available on iTunes since February 1, 2007. The mini-album name is Noble Intentions.

..

Oh Boy !! is not part of the mini-album!

Before Digital Flowers, I was a member of Uniform (with Mandy Rowlands and Phil Wilde, now known as composer/producer for 2 Unlimited, CB Milton and Kate Ryan) and co-wrote songs that were used by a.o. Petra and Isabelle A.

There’s so many projects I’ve been working on the past months, so there’s definitely more to come ... Keep watching this Space !

Queen, Scritti Politti, Garbage, Mika, The Police, Madonna, Blur, Chic, The Foo Fighters

watching Le fabuleux destin d’Amelie Poulain, Hair and Rumble Fish, sensing the power in the work of Mark Rothko and Roy Lichtenstein, reading Eugene Ionesco, Roddy Doyle, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Enid Blyton and Fernando Arrabal, blurbs on Antonin Artaud and Robert Wilson, seeing Salvador Dali for the first time, playing with Lego and Matchbox cars, hearing Mozart’s Magical Flute for thousand times or more, running around the Madeleine Church in Paris, SVW, memories of Rainer Werner Fassbinder, driving around in our living room on bikes, recording tapes of the rehearsals of New Promenade with my first Sony walkman, Gaudi, the sun, drinking tea with Alison Goldfrapp, a room on the first floor, the perfect photography in Sin City, making my first sculpture in sand stone whilst staying with my grand parents, trying to convince nitwits at school that Queen was going to become bigger than The Sweet, working for FedEx, missing the music boat, Mid-Life Express and ZiN, Steak Archiduc, Aaron, Jonas, Omar and Lana

Obsession (Army of Lovers) made an incomparable impression, and so did Relax (FGTH) when I first heard it. God Only Knows (The Beach Boys) and Everybody’s Free To Wear Sunscreen (Baz Luhrmann) became sources of inspiration. Thomas Dolby (especially as producer for Prefab Sprout) and Rupert Hine were nothing less than Gods behind their mixing desks. The Streets, Crowded House, Soulwax, Groove Armada, Dalbello, Moby, Robert Palmer, Was (Not was), Scissor Sisters, Peter Gabriel, Manfred Mann’s Earth Band, Cab Calloway, New Radicals, Wendy & Lisa, INXS, The Fixx, Malcolm McLaren, Nik Kershaw, The Stereo MC’s and some others must have influenced me somehow too. Oh, and I love the things Lee Sankey and some of my other MySpace friends are doing !

my brother Xavier, Paul Luttik, Andre Honnay, Alain Vande Putte

and of course my lovely Dorinda - 4ever
