Hip Hop, She's my Frida Kahlo™

About Me

BIOGRAPHY Bless619 emerged from a predominantly Mexican-American community with the highest crime rate in San Diego. Being the second oldest city in San Diego county, National City AKA Nasty City, is a locality not known for breeding hip hop artists, but rather for its poverty, gangs, drugs, and single-parent households... ...This story begins in a small sector "La Buena Vista" of Tijuana, where his parents first met. His father migrated from Culiacan Sinaloa, and his mother from Guadalajara, Mexico. An adolescent romance quickly evolved into a teenage marriage. Soon after, his mother became pregnant. Determined to provide better opportunities for their unborn son, his parents decided to cross the border and they settled in Southeast (shell town) San Diego. It was 1983 when Bless was born. 7 months later on July 18, 1984, fate would change the destiny of Bless when tragedy striked at a San Ysidro McDonald's. A gunman opened fire inside the McDonald's killing 21 innocent people and injuring 19 others. Moments before the tragedy, his mother stepped out of the McDonald's, wanting to eat at the Jack In the Box across the street instead. Dodging the San Ysidro Massacre would signify how blessed, Bless was. When Bless was 10 years old, his parents separated, leaving him devastated and in search of a remedy to soothe his anguish. While living in National City, he would be introduced to hip hop by his next door neighbor MigL. Soon after, at the age of 12, they joined a break dancing crew. Three years later, Bless would write his first rap song, and has been addicted since. As his peers joined gangs, he joined rap groups, releasing two mix-tapes during his high school years at Sweetwater High. In 2004, he formed the group Neighborhood Concept along with childhood friends, Rudy G. and MigL. They released the album "Necessary Compositions" in 2005. For over a decade, Bless619 has been making music, conveying his state of mind through the art form of hip hop, painting pictures with words like Diego Rivera, and this is just the beginning...
