Burial emerged late in 2005 formally under the name of Tempest...The original Tempest consisted of Andrew Riley on guitar, James Glaister on drums, Brendan Kavanagh on Bass & Scott Ayris on guitar and Andrew Walker on lead vocals. The band was never anything to be very proud of, but did have one notable gig at the Reynella Youth Centre in which Brendan took on the role of lead singer as well as bass player. The band were nearly banned from the Youth Centre after Brendan made some rather inapropriate comments.
The band continued to practice, but before another gig could be organised it was Scott Ayris who for one reason or another parted ways with Tempest in the early weeks of September. The band was beginning to look for a new lead guitarist when musical dispute between members led to Walker also parting ways with Tempest. After the turmoil which occured within the band in September, all members decided it was best for the band to go on hiatus. Within two weeks of the band parting ways, it appeared almost certain that Tempest was no longer on hiatus, but finished.
One and a half months later, Andrew, James & Brendan found themselves missing the band lifestyle and began discussing how to bring Tempest back from what appeared to be...Death. They began writing new material and practicing two times a week. Three weeks later, the band had created five whole songs and a band return was evident. After much discussion, it was decided to put the past behind them and reformed under the name of Burial in November of 2006. This time with long-time band friend Antony Williams replacing Scott Ayris on lead guitar.
In early 2007 the band was preparing for a gig at south Adelaide football club... organised by Mark Ackland & Burial. It was during this time that the band became aquanted with mark's long time friend Callan Henry who was the lead singer of "A Lapse In Reality" and after hearing him in practice, the band became interested in aquiring him as their lead singer. After playing together at South Adelaide, the band approached Callan and asked him about singing for them, Callan agreed unhesitantly
With Callan as their new singer, Burial are sure to create some serious Metal mayhem on the Adelaide local scene... with eight full length songs completed with four more on the way in the next month, Burial are set to record their first EP in about May 2007
After rough patches with Callan of not making it to band practise, Burial became frustrated. But later discovering that Callan wanted to leave Burial. After a mutual leaving Burial's next task was to find a new vocalist with a presence on stage and a look that people will remember, and then we found Jack. He is a metalhead from Andrew Rileys old School (ASMS). He was 100% into Burial and keen to begin practising. After his first gig at the underground. Jacks presence only grew on stage. He fits the band much better than previous vocalists and fulfills his role as vocalist for Burial. He brings a darker side to the band, a Darker side Burial was crying out for.
