Born in the Bay Area, Misstress has been in the spotlight since the age of nine, performing in various plays and talent shows all over the San Francisco Bay Area. On the stage with a mic in her hand showcasing her fiery delivery and rapid free-style has long been her favorite pastime. “Ever since I was a little girl, I was writing rhymes. I would lock myself in my room and put my thoughts to paper. Music was my release.â€1999 was the year Misstress met with local producer Rod, of Ace High Records, and recorded her first song “Thug Love†featuring Lil' Fridge. “Working with Rod is one of the best experiences any new artist could have. He was the first person to bring me into the studio to record music. I couldn’t have asked for a better mentor.†Later in 2001 Misstress continued on her musical journey by teaming up with producer Elecia Renee of C.L.A.S.S.I.C. Productions, creating the songs "Watch Out" (which later placed as the runner up in the 106.1 KMEL Big Shot Contest) and “Get Your Hustle On†featuring Shai Heat. For the next three years the trio wrote and produced their own music, which allowed Misstress to further develop her lyrical talents. “We would literally sit around and make music, bouncing ideas off of each other and developing our own unique sounds. At that time in my life I was struggling to find out who I was as an artist, so our collaboration really enabled me to further develop myself artistically.â€Feeling confident to step out on her own Misstress set out to work on her first solo project. “I was too consumed with trying to please everyone until I decided to just do me and once I did that I felt ready and excited to really create my music, and after that everything just flowed.†After the successes and praise she received from her colleagues and music industry professionals, Misstress quickly decided to commit herself to music full-time. “I began to pick up extra shifts at work to buy a computer, so I could start recording all the music I was creating.†From there she began writing songs for her first album titled, “Can’t Stop, Won’t Stopâ€.2005 was another productive year for Misstress, teaming up with Chris Uiterwijk of the bay area 9 piece live funk band, Lowfat. “Performing with Lowfat was another great experience for me, I was able to practice and grow as a true free-style artist. They brought their jazzy, funk beats and I brought my fresh free-style skills, so it was a great match. We performed all over the Bay Area, Ireland 32’s (San Francisco), Octopus Lounge (Pacifica), Blake’s (Berkeley) and The Starry Plough (Oakland).â€In 2006, inspired and ready to make a name for herself, Misstress started her own party promotions company, Pink Panties. “There wasn’t a space available for my friends and I to perform our music so I started my company to provide a venue to perform.â€When asked to name one of her career highlights thus far, two in particular come to mind. “I entered the VH-1 Freestyle 59 contest and placed as an honoree on their website, I even had a 59 second commercial that aired on VH-1. At the time, that was huge for me, being a female rap artist from the Bay, we just don’t get as much exposure as compared to some of my male counterparts. My second career highlight would have to be making it to the finals at the monthly freestyle battle held at the Oakland Metro. I’m currently the only woman to make it to the finals, spearheading the women’s freestyle movement in this event.â€Fast-forwarding to 2007, Misstress has teamed up with manager/producer Felice Archbold of FreshVibe Media--. “Big things are in the works, I’m back in the studio recording new material and collaborating with up-and-coming artists around The Bay. I’m ready to catapult my career and this is my time.â€
