"Ride For Dime (RFD) is an annual charity remembrance ride and concert event held in memory of Darrell Abbott, Jeff Thompson, Nathan Bray, and Erin Halk. It is in the spirit in which Darrell lived his life, his contributions and love for music, that Ride For Dime was organized. Ride For Dime will continue to spread Darrell's caring, kindness, and generosity to others, by contributing to a cause he deeply believed in, ...music education programs for children. Proceeds from Ride For Dime are donated to the Little Kids Rock organization. - RFD Inc.
The Ride for Dime Philly Chapter was formed in late November 2006. We are under exclusive rights & permissions of Ride for Dime Inc. Arlington, Texas. Philadelphia is the first city to become an extension of this great organization.
Annually, there are two RFD events that are held in honor of the victims of December 8, 2004, Darrell Lance Abbott, Jeffrey Thompson, Nathan Bray, & Erin Halk. Our events are held in the month of August, as Dime’s Birthday is in August.
In Philadelphia, we hold an all day concert & fundraiser. Our first event, in August 2007, was a great success, with just over $4,000.00 being raised. We thank all of our bands, sponsors, donators, volunteers, supporters, and families for such a great outcome.
Since RFD was originated in Texas, in Darrell's hometown, the Ride itself, will ALWAYS and ONLY, take place in Texas. That will forever remain an exclusive portion of Ride for Dime in Arlington, Texas.
At the conclusion of Ride for Dime ‘3’, in Texas, we were able to donate exactly $10,000 to Little Kids Rock.
"LITTLE KIDS ROCK" believes that all children in our public schools deserve music education. Music education is a transforming force in children's lives.
