right now i'm interested in how to shift america's cultural mood from the right back to the left. i'm so tired of listening to "progressives" talk about how they want to move to europe because bush won the election. that's really just code for "i'm going to be even less politically engaged this four years than i was for the last four years." and fuck all the people talking about increasing federalism, red zones and blue zones, the comparative iqs of red states vs. blue states, the proximity of red voters to wal-mart vs the proximity of blue voters to starbucks, and all the rest of this divisive bullshit. in my town, starbucks is right across the street from walmart. let's just swallow our sour grapes and start shitting solutions.
i'm also very interested in taoist philosophy and spirituality (but not necessarily religious practice). i carry a copy of stephen mitchell's translation of tao te ching in my pocket most of the time, and i'm always on the lookout for others. i would say that i'm an aspiring taoist if monic wouldn't slap me in the back of the head for saying something so stupid.
i would be neglecting a very important part of my life if i didn't devote some space to my devotion to anti-racist ideas, principles, and action. does racism still exist? yes. can we do something about it? yes. does the solution have anything to do with lamenting "can't we all get along?" and holding hands while singing "we shall overcome?" fuck no.
i'm also interested in cursing.
