Whether it be witty sarcasm or bawdy & brazen, I may laugh outright, snicker, or merely smile knowingly... so long as the effect is meant to entertain or dispel tension, and not offend. NEVER should "humor" be used as a tool to hurt someone!

I'd like to meet:

Buried at PhotoCasket.comAll my friends who became MIA over the years. We grew up and grew apart - time for everyone to return to the fold. Would LOVE to hear from my former co-workers in the OR at Hutzel Hospital! Present friends are always welcome... maybe even a few new ones, too. ABOUT FRIENDS REQUESTS: I get daily invites to be added to people's "friends list." While I'm truly flattered that you found something about me that interests you, I reserve my friends list for those who I know outside of myspace, authors of blogs I subscribe to, or those with whom I've have had ongoing contact. If you would like to be my "friend" you can start by actually being my friend: send me an EMAIL and initiate contact. I enjoy meeting interesting, bright conversationalists with distinctive personalities. If we can keep a conversation going, I'd be honored to toss you in the friends basket, lol. ;)

Music:

My musical preferences span a very wide chasm, depending on my mood: classical (as in Tchaikovsky & Bach, not the Stones, lol), some light opera, and symphony all the way to rock, techno, and metal. Toss in some ambient, smooth jazz, or world... or whatever catches my fancy at the time. Got to admit to a soft spot for 80s hair bands!

Movies:

Kinda follows my book preferences: comedy, horror, sci-fi, fantasy, action... not big on "chic flicks" - never seen Titanic, and I still have no regrets, lol.

Television:

Don't usually turn it on, but if I did, it would likely be turned to the discovery channel or news. Unless I'm watching old black-n-white movies, old comedy (Laurel & Hardy, anyone?), or maybe CSI. Someone got me intrigued with Grey's Anatomy, and my niece has graciously loaned me season 1, so we shall see if it becomes a favorite. Then there's always X-files/Star Trek TNG/Seinfield/Frasier/Friends reruns. Scrubs - SOOOO technically incorrect, but so funny. And last, but definately not least, RED WINGS BABY!! But like I said - I don't usually turn the tv on, lol.

Books:

Love 'em! Science fact & fiction, fantasy, horror, humor, psychology, best sellers... currently reading the Necroscope series by Brian Lumley (excellent books!!). I would try romance novels if it didn't make my life seem that much more bland by comparison, lol. There's nothing better than a good book, glass of white wine, and my favorite Native American flute CD playing softly whilst I sink into a hot bath... ahhhhhhh....

Heroes:

Anyone who makes life a little better for someone less fortunate - especially those who come to the aid of children. Kudos to the doctors and staff at Children's Hospital. I couldn't do what you do every day... I tried. It takes a special kind of person to be able to keep smiling at the kiddos through all the heartbreak. Speaking of heartbreak, someone just sent me a photo slide show of our boys in Iraq that brought tears to my eyes. Dear Lord, embrace them and keep them safe.
The Keys to Your Heart
You are attracted to those who are unbridled, untrammeled, and free.
In love, you feel the most alive when things are straight-forward, and you're told that you're loved.
You'd like to your lover to think you are flexible and ready for anything!
You would be forced to break up with someone who was insecure and in constant need of reassurance.
Your ideal relationship is lasting. You want a relationship that looks to the future... one you can grow with.
Your risk of cheating is zero. You care about society and morality. You would never break a commitment.
You think of marriage as something precious. You'll treasure marriage and treat it as sacred.
In this moment, you think of love as commitment. Love only works when both people are totally devoted. What Are The Keys To Your Heart?

My Blog

I'll have the survey du jour with a Slice of Wry... make it light

Surveys - are they really blogable? I suppose you could say that they loosely - very loosely - fit the criteria for what motivates most blog writers: the desire to impart an opinion, share a stor...

character suicide - or - that lying filthy bastard

My earliest memory of lying was when I was in kindergarten. Undoubtedly, by that time, I was quite experienced at the art, as most children are. It was a day of vision testing at school. The man exami...

Life with a Slice of Wry, part II: Mama always said I should marry a plumber

bitter & jaded, part 2: it's about casual sex, stupid - not some neofeminist rant

Well! Talk about stirring up the joint. My little tizzy did not go unnoticed, and sadly, my target audience remains, for the most part, inanely clueless. (That's "inane", not "insane", although with a...
