Horrors Of The Black Mass Coming Early 2008!!!

About Me

In today's world of heavy music, with all it's different off-shoots such as power metal, thrash metal, black metal, death metal, progressive metal, etc, it's refreshing to know that there are still metal bands out there that have stayed "true" to their roots and continue to play "old school, classic" heavy metal. Such is the case with Chicago's RAVENSTHORN.
Formed back in 2001 with original members Bill "Count Bloodwyn" Jannusch (vokills), Tony Barr (drums & percussion), Mario Sanchez (bass guitar) and Greg Verthein (lead guitar), RAVENSTHORN has been invading the Midwest metal scene in the U.S. for the past six years now and have developed quite a loyal and devoted following during that time. Several top-rated metal-zines and radio stations in the States and throughout Europe have already featured RAVENSTHORN and eagerly continue to support and promote the band in their magazines and on the airwaves. In 2005, the band performed at the "Headbanger's Open Air Festival" in Germany and without question proved once again why many consider RAVENSTHORN as one of the "elite" heavy metal bands from the United States.
The music of RAVENSTHORN is dark and atmospheric, in a style that is somewhat reminiscent of the "Master of the Macabre" himself, King Diamond. Super-sonic, soaring vocals combined with razor sharp guitar riffs and piercing solos lead the way while the rhythm section roars like thunder from hell! And, like the King, RAVENSTHORN LIVE performances always include "visuals" and "special effects" that highlight and enhance their music, which ultimately contributes extra added excitement as the band continues to unleash the fury of it's metallic ritual.
RAVENSTHORN'S first release entitled "House of the Damned", was very well received by the worldwide "Metal Underground" and was voted as one of the "Outstanding Releases by an Unsigned Band" by one of Europe's top heavy metal magazines. After an awesome performance at the "2004 Classic Metal Festival" held in Lansing, Illinois, RAVENSTHORN signed a recording contract with Germany's highly regarded Hellion Records and released their second project, "Hauntings And Possessions." "Hauntings" also received tremendous reviews (especially in Europe) and has already become an old school metal "cult classic" with songs like "Chants of the Soulless", "Buried in the Basement", "Possessed by Evil" and "Bloodthirst of Dracula."
RAVENSTHORN'S next heavy metal onslaught will appropriately be called, "Horrors of the Black Mass." It will feature the addition of bass player Scott T. rounding out rhythm section and guitar shredders Jeff West and Bill Hall. With the release of "Horrors of the Black Mass", RAVENSTHORN will once again "open the gates" to "TRUE" heavy metal and relentlessly ignite flames in the hearts of Metal Maniacs around the world.
As the heavy metal tides begin to change and "old school" metal returns to prominence (which already seems to be happening), RAVENSTHORN will be at the forefront of the movement. So, join us now...and "Enter the Realm" of RAVENSTHORN!
Look for RAVENSTHORN'S next release, "Horrors of the Black Mass" to be out in the fall of 2007.
RAVENSTHORN is: Bill "Count Bloodwyn" Jannusch (vokills), Bill Hall (lead guitar), Jeff West (lead guitar), Scott T. (bass guitar) and Tony Barr (drums & percussion).

Sounds Like: With our singers vocal style, our twin guitar attack and the band's dark atmosphere, we are often compared to King Diamond. And, although we certainly don't purposely try to sound like the Great Dane, we sincerely feel it is a HUGE compliment to be compared to "The King" in any way. We've also been compared to Mercyful Fate, the great Ozzy, Laaz Rocket, Judas Priest, older Queensryche and even Fates Warning with a touch of Testament. Truthfully...we sound like....well..... Ravensthorn!
