About Me

From out-and-out snarling, guitar-fuelled assault to haunting, bittersweet piano balladry, 50Hz are difficult to pigeonhole. Formed in 2001 in London, 50Hz released their first single on Shifty Disco Records later that year (championed by Steve Lamacq on Radio 1), and have built a loyal following since then. Recently, 50Hz (alongside Stereophonics) set the tone for Long Way Round, the television series documenting the around the world motorcycle adventure of actors Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman. Their song "Panic Attack" appears on the EMI-released soundtrack for the series alongside the likes of Radiohead, Coldplay, Massive Attack and Blur. The last year has been spent working on a full-length album with producer Ian Grimble (The Cure, Travis, Manic Street Preachers). This is now available as a limited 1,000 copy run from their website www.50hertz.co.uk, and can also be downloaded from the iTunes music store ...

Having avoided the 'sending out demos to record companies' route, the band are planning a full single release in spring 2007 on their own label, Blue Tide Records. Their remarkable live shows have also recently been amped up a notch by the addition of new guitarist Dan Cochrane (replacing Andy Gott ), and more live dates are currently being scheduled across the UK.50 hz - Panic Attack
