About Me

BIO DIS UNU RAAAS CLAART! What abaut me!? What abaut you!?Grew up in London Great Britain, started out listening to Reggae music David Rodigan and Tony Williams along with various other radio djs, for heads like me growing up Soul music came hand in hand with Reggae music. When i was a teenager 15 years old i became part of a sound system Tiffany high power, based in Battersea sw London. Then my buddies and i formed our own crew UP FRONT. We played at our local youth club every Friday and up and down the country . @ our local youth club we had many national and international artists come through such as Philip Levi, Smiley Culture and Tippa Ire, i had few records at the time so i used to mix down the m cs and record the sessions, Only a couple of the homies have those tape sessions. Then the violence escalated with the first generation born black youth and yardies and wanna be yardies till they killed my friend Morris Josephs(R.I.P) and the club closed down,I took visit at the millenium and saw that the club never re opened.Everyone moved on, Electro was on the out then i heard samples that i liked and to me in 1983 Hip Hop was born,I was still very much a Reggae head listening to Dance hall Regga,i was very much into thesound clash with the ragga mcs batteling.1986 I purchased brand new pair of Technics 1210s after marinating a couple years i was ready for the Rap world, i visited New York stayed four months checking out the Historic and places mentioned in the battle Rap saga , krs1, Marley Marl, and places mentioned in the civil rights movment. Back in the UK i had plans of assisting in the promotion of Hip Hop particularly Britsh.Since i was a youth i always had 2 or 3 crews some tottally different from the other and would flip from time to time till the main crew now was my more local buddies who were a Dance crew called RPM. Routines per Minute..the first British crew to Dance with an American act @Brixton Acadamy with Salt n Pepper. I learned what i needed to learn to sample music programe drum machines and make music.I had plans of starting aa Pirate Radio Station so i would make short and long insrtrumentals for mcs and mixing purposes...however upon my return from the U S in October 1988 i was introduced to m c Cardi, we looked in a physics book and and pulled out ELECTRO MOTIVE FORCE and became E M F.(WE ALMOST BEAT THE OTHER EMF OFF STAGE @ THE TOWN & COUNTRY CLUB, BUT WHEN I HEARD THEY WERE NOT ANOTHER RAP GROUP I CALLED OFF THE ATTACK).By December 1988 we had a demo ...thanks Dub Judah, and signed to an independant record company Greedy Beat. The release was ROUGH POTENTIAL, we sold the track to record stores ourselves as an import {naughty naughty} We were instantly interviewed by Radio London and Capitol Radio, Blues and Soul Magazine voted us the best British Rap Group Ever, and likened my production to Marley Marl a huge compliment, he was the Dr Drea of then. We put on shows, brought artists such as Busta Rymes, Leaders of the New School and Lords of the underground whom i filmed on stage etc, EMF recorded more material and despite the momentom and the hype mc Cardi and myself became muslims of two different sects and he decided there was no music in Islaam so he left. I continued making tracks and by 1994 i had enough of empty promises and cold weather so took a long vacation to see Boston, New York and then Los Angeles. Not knowing a single soul and being quizzed by plain clothed airport police.I had arrived and my networking had began. I was now a HIP HOP head marinating in house music, A good friend Matt Dunsford and co had lots of after parties and i asked him if he was going to play that house music shit all night long..he said Chris ..just give it a chance..since then ive spun with, dj Ali @ my house, opened for Grant Plant, Charles Feelgood,Holly Adams of groove Radio,Mark Lewis,Taylor,Simply Jeff,Dj Christian from the Empire us asia tour,Dilate crew,Darin Wescotte..we did the badest 2x4@ Scott Tapp`s old warehouse in Gardeaner.RESIDENCIES @ The Cock `n`Bull ..British pub in Slander Monica ...otherwise known as ..real name Santa Monica for little over a year and a half...tough crowd the Brits. Then another long term residency @ Caseys bar an grill Grand avenue downtown booking many dj`s an` crews....sorry i cannot be assed typing names right now...i`ll name drop another time. That residency lasted around a year and a half ....good fun , hard work. Blu Bizness..SoulCat..who is remixing one of my old tracks...i will list more djs ive worked with in near future...but 4 now..peace PS:WHEN I WAS LEAVING LA MY FRIENDS TOLD ME THIS IS THE END OF AN ERA, LIKE THE SEVENTIES JUST ENDED.
