Cohen & the Ghost excels at maintaining a diverse sound while writing marvelously catchy melodies. The group cannot be described as any one genre of music as it draws on a varied assortment of influences.
Their debut Album, Paper Moon, is an impressively eclectic record with a range of music comparable to indie greats Bright Eyes and Arcade Fire.
But the band will not let itself be defined by one branch of the musical world. You might think the banjo, boot, and chain combination in 'Ghost' solidifies them as a folksy/southern rock group, but the harping xylophones and swirling pianos heard shortly after in 'Broken Megaphone' destroy all previous expectations and keep you listening.
The album's epic centerpiece, Pandora, shows a darker nature to frontman Cohen Hartman's lyrics. Pandora has a consistent role throughout the album, hinting that the songs are inter-related and schematically composed.
Paper Moon is the first album that includes all of the band's current members. It was independently recorded over a period of 10 months and copies were sold world-wide through PayPal, Snocap.com, Digstation.com and CDBaby.com.
Paper Moon includes banjo, two electric guitars, bass, drums, mandolin, acoustic guitar, lap steel guitar, chains, trumpet, sleigh bells, accordion, xylophone, violin, and tambourines.

REVIEWS
"Cohen has an endless stash of talent, and to be able to channel that into some of the best songs I have ever heard at such a young age, I can only imagine what the future holds for him. Brilliant.
"Everything on his albums seems to be a great exposure of soul, thought, emotion, and wonder in every aspect of life..."
"As the guitar swirls with the vocals that are raw and honest, you find yourself unsure of your surroundings. You have been drawn in and you are gone. You are on a winding road in the middle of the night wondering what is going on around you and trying to reconcile it all. And you are addicted. You want to put it on repeat and continue to drive. Thank you for bringing it to my ears." -Kerry Gibson, SHUT EYE RECORDS
"Touching brilliance." -www.livingatheist.com
"Charming and tender, beautiful and simple. Stumbling graciously." -Chico (fan)
"A serious body of work. Paper Moon is Cohen's best album to date. It moved me." -Barry Hill (fan)
"Wonderful Music for those melancholic nights when you want to sit in the dark and watch the silver moon turn to paper and then you can fold it into origami crane and watch it fly away. The music is pure magic. (I'm listening to it with a smile)"- Oi (fan)
