DRIVING SILENCE

Bringing Back Rock & Roll!

About Me

It all started back in 2001 when Jon, Robert and Sebu decided to start a band. The first two years of their musical career they were called Reeb 48. All three of them were still in high school at this time so they didn't quite have the time to give their full attention to the playing. But Robert grabbed a pen and started writing songs. After a short while they were in the studio making their first demo. Little did they know it was gonna turn out to be a total disaster. They sent the demo all around but they received nothing but rejections. What the band needed was more gigs to build up their stage confidence. So they started looking for place where they could perform and as it turned out, the school they went to seemed to be the only place that would take them. Robert kept writing songs but the band didn't have anywhere to perform so it was completely useless. A year later, Jon decided to go to America for one year and that's when Reeb 48 really started to fade away. When he returned everything was different and the members were much older and wiser. None of the three guys could imagine a life without being in a band so they started talking about putting the band back together. After months of planning they thought the best way of continuing was if a major change of image took place. So they began taking intrest in the world of rock and roll. The band was (and still is) inspired by great bands such as The Who, Led Zeppelin, The Doors, The Beatles, AC/DC etc. But the real essance of Driving Silence nowdays is a strong, yet flowing, mixture of the bands they are inspired by and the music they used to like and play before.Since rock and roll was the music they wanted to play, most of the songs required two guitars. A guitarist was almost impossible to find so Jon decided to learn to play the guitar. That didn't take very long and all they needed now was a bass player. Luckily they were friends with JV who had been playing the bass for a few years but hadn't yet found a band. So in the summer of 2004, JV joined the group. In that summer they started practicing in Sebu's garage. After several months of playing in the garage, drinking beer and eating fast food they had enough material to go to a studio again. In the beginning of April 2005 their demo, "Celebration Ride", was released with the help from the very talented Yki at Studio Tauko. After that they played at various shows and venues but still giving them enough time to work on new songs that resulted in the 2006 demo, "Double The Action".

PROJECT, LIVE DEMO

We are currently practicing very hard, cause we've decided to record a live-studio-session album. We will probably play almost every one of our songs just to be able to see which ones will make it on ...
