Sounds Like: The Rools - I Fall From Grace "At one time glossy cinema advertisements were incomplete without a wilderness landscape enhanced by the power of a graduated filter, and a thoughtful 'one note at a time' guitar solo borrowing from the Ronnie Wood school of moodfulness. The Rools undeniably deploy this rock cliché to significant effect, with delayed feedback droplet phrases forming a perfect and atmospheric backdrop to the brooding narrative. The Rools have paid great attention to the shaping of mood through the use of subtle textures, obviously reversed symbols will be difficult to recreate in a live setting though not impossible. The effect on the track reaps its rewards, in casting a spell of probing mystery.I Fall From Grace works in its position, which may well be on the next Toyota advert, or the centre of the album where it may be appreciated but unmemorable unless driven along by a video filmed somewhere in Sweden. The track has all the hallmarks of a band skilled in the processes of the studio, with its enigmatic beginning and unsure ending".You Go Your Way, I’ll Go Mine"Demonstrates the level of competence and planning that go into the composition and creation of The Rools tracks. Layers of shimmering harmonica, soothing harmonies, delicate percussion, guitars and the signature symbols have been laid out with the deliberation, and thought of the storyline lyrics. A feature though not a drawback, is that an audience would need to be patient to appreciate the quality of this sound. It is a refreshing change to review a band that does not rely upon a headlong power charge to claim their place, it takes nerve to avoid the safe musical path, though self belief can repay the musician many times over."Words: Mick Roberts
