I remember as a child 9 years old, my father was at work and I took it upon myself to go through his music collection. He had alot of the Beatles, Elvis, The Carpenters and some Elton John. I spent hours listening to their music and didn't take much interest, probably because I didn't understand it (Now I find these artists very inspirational)..then I came across a mix tape, track 7 i think, called 'Dreamer' by Michael Jackson....I played it over and over again...I said to myself 'he feels my pain'. I didn't need to understand the lyrics, I just felt it in the Voice, such Soul and Emotion. I began writing from that moment on, anything I felt, I never really kept a diary, just wrote my feelings and emotions, a great release for me. As time went on, I decided to look MJ up to see what he was all about....he became my musical inspiration, through whom I became attracted to any musician that was serious about their art...Stevie Wonder, Diana Ross, Mariah Carey, John Lennon...the list goes on... MJ's love for life, music and the world made me realise there is more to life than yourself. We are here to make a difference, no matter how big or small, to do something that helps people will surely make the world a better place. One person alone cannot change the way we live and treat each other, but one man's move can inspire and encourage another to help pave the way for the future generation. My biggest inpiration in life has got to be my mother. My number 1 fan..how cool is that!!! Whenever I have a bad day, I try not to let it get me down, as my mother has had a lifetime of them and still managed to continue living like life is a breeze. Which in her words 'You are Healthy and Gifted, so there's no need to complain'. I had alot of proving to do but eventually the dream was realised and here I am sharing it with you.I am a singer songwriter. The inpsiration behind the writing is mostly personal experience, but can sometimes be what i've seen other's go through and express my feelings through writing. Melodies do literally fly around in my head like a jukebox, play me something instrumental and I can write something to it if inspired by the music, which most of the time I am. Lyrically I have grown and learnt alot. To be recognised and established as a songwriter is something very important to me. This is a tough business I know and have the experience of having the door shut in my face plenty of times, but it's only made me work at my craft and develop myself to be the best that I can be. Always a work in progress and plenty of things to learn I'm sure.Keep Music Alive, it is the one thing that brings people together of all different backgrounds and nationalities. Ever go to a live concert/gig??...the atmosphere is off the hook!! To bring people together is the ultimate aim.Peace & LoveSandy xxx
